First I had made an event to record audio in. The event is 300 bars long because I didn’t know the exact lenght of the instrumental recording. I wanted to keep the first 60 bars and the most of the remainder was pure silence.

I was trying to cut away the remainder and Podium seemed to processing it but when I try save the audio file from within the audioeditor it doesn’t get saved. when I open it in Audition the remainder is still there.
when I quit podium it asks to save the file >>> yes >>> but in audition it still is there. Noting was changed and saved.

I think it is because I accidently recorded that file in 16bit resolution. I tried to set the file in the sound properties dialog to 24 bit afterwards, assuming it would be converted. After I did that the file doesn’t save its changes anymore. Even when I have put it back to 16bits. The “save sound” doesn’t get dimmed when i try to save it.

Is the bit resolution something you only set before you start a recording or should it also work as a convertion afterwards.

    Thanks

You can change the resolution any time, even during recording. I tried recreating your scenario and encountered no problems. I did find an unfortunate behaviour, which I doubt is your problem; When choosing the ‘Save Ctrl+S’ menu on an unnamed sound in a new project that is not saved to a file yet, then the empty project path is not added to the sound, and the sound file is saved at whatever is the current directory. You could try to do a search for a duplicate of your sound file. I’ll fix this behaviour for the next release.

What I suspect is your problem is that the sound file is locked by another application. If you have opened the file in Audition, then trying to save it in Podium will probably fail. I found that Podium does not issue a warning when failing to save to a locked file. I’ll add that for the next release, so you at least will be informed when this is the case.

    Seems to work now.

The file was not loaded in Audition when I edited it in Podium. The reason I loaded it in Audition was because the file didn’t change after i did edit operations on it.

hmm some strange coincidence perhaps. I can’t repeat it anymore.

    That’s good

    I don’t like strange coincidences 😐

I’ll make the changes I wrote about in the above post. Let me know if you encounter situations with the next release, where the sound cannot be saved and there’s no error message popping up.

If I can’t save a sound I will notice it … and report.
Tried the day after, same procedure -even with the file open in audion- and it worked. I can’t remember if there were other programs open but something was interfering the save process.
