in the future development list you have:

    – Support for AIF sound files.

Is there any chance for adding a few other free formats as well? I would suggest FLAC, and Monkey’s Audio?

FLAC and Monkey’s Audio are both lossless formats which can be really cool – if you’re using samples you can cut the size way down for file sharing, and if Podium could load them like a normal Wav it would be awesome.

Of course I wouldn’t consider this a *huge* priority, but I would like to see them on the list! šŸ™‚

    The line now reads:
    – Support for AIF, FLAC, Monkey’s Audio and WavPack sound file formats.

I added WavPack which is another lossless format I stumbled upon. I probably won’t support all formats though.

great! I think FLAC is probably the most useful, more people are using it than the other formats and more people have heard of it.

Looking forward to AAC, FLAC & Monkey’s Audio!

What about support for mp3, ogg, and other common formats (both import and export)? I suspect the first thing a lot of new users try to do is open an mp3 in Podium, only to discover they can’t.

If people try to import mp3 files it would most likely be to create some sort of song medley of their favorite mp3 songs. I’ve never heard of sample libraries that use compressed file formats. I may add support for import/export of compressed formats in the future.

Actually, when I do it, it’s because I have an old accompaniment piano track that I didn’t think warranted a larger file when I created it. A lot of times, I record choir parts over those original tracks.
At the moment, I end up converting the mp3 in another program before I pull it into Podium.
