LionParticipantHey, would it be too much to ask for a tap tempo?

ZynewaveKeymasterWhere would you prefer this to be placed?
The obvious place would be the tempo indicator in the transport toolbar, but double-clicking here currently opens the tempo event properties dialog. This could be changed to Alt+Click for opening the tempo dialog, and normal click will then work as tap tempo.

LionParticipantThat sounds good to me
tho, I think alt+click for Tap Tempo might be better. OR right-click for tempo dialog.

thcilnnahojParticipantHow about a seperate ‘tap’ field/button to the side of the tempo display box?
Otherwise I’m for+ click, too, because I think opening the tempo properties dialog is the behaviour most expected of multi-clicking the tempo box. Another suggestion: Maybe the tempo box could show the values of the currently selected tempo events (it would behave the same as it does now when none are selected). For tap tempo to work in an arrangement with tempo changes, I assume you’d first have to move the edit cursor to a tempo event to be able to change its tempo this way – might be a little confusing.

LionParticipantDoes anyone use tap tempo for multi-tempo songs?
I guess in that case, maybe a ‘tempo event’ keyboard shortcut?

Yes, i like that feature in Tracktion very much. There you can tap the tempo with the left mouse click. The tempo shows its number and from there you can adjust it if you want to .

ZynewaveKeymasterI’ve added a “Tap Tempo” button to the Tempo Event Properties dialog. Key shortcut for the tap button is Alt+E.
So: You double-click the tempo field in the transport toolbar, or any of the events in the tempo event lane. Once you have tapped at least three times, the calculated tempo is entered in the BPM value field. Each tap will increase the measured time range, and thus result in a more precise bpm value. If you pause for two seconds, the tap history is reset, and you can tap in a new tempo. Press OK, and the tempo is applied.
Will be available in Podium 2.33.

Nice
I’ll admit I hoped for a more uhmm… flexible tempo. But still goodie.July 13, 2010 at 06:22 #18819
LevendisParticipantAlt+E brings up the Edit menu?!
How about Alt+Click the Metronome button? …to tap in a tempo. The last tempo object (before edit cursor) would then be adjusted.
Sorry, I realise this message is posted after the release of v.2.33 #-o

It does, when the focus is on the editor. When any of the dialogs are open, a lot of the dialog controls have Alt key shortcuts that override the normal shortcuts.
