I think considering how simple a feature this is especially within a multitrack host, I am guessing that it’s lack of implementation is down to it being lost in the crowd of other features over time, but it is one of the most basic features in *any* host. You absolutely must have track numbers. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It becomes a major problem with larger projects as you can imagine! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Some ideas for the implementation…

    1. Standard implentation…1, 2,3 for any new track e.t.c

    2. Slight twist with the standard 1,2,3 for any track but with an option to have wrapped tracks numbered thus, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and so forth.

I’m not so sure that it would be good, since every track can be audio / MIDI sequence / volume / plugin automation / MIDI controller / sends-returns… and, among all, on different levels !

For example, if you decide that the level 2 will correspond to what you are naming track 1, 2, 3 etc., if you decide to wrap all these tracks in a new FX one, or a bounce track, they will be named 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc. and you will have only one track, at level 2 named 1 ?

If you have the output track + a bounce track for export + two chained plugins, your audio tracks will be named 1.1.1.1, 1.1.1.2, 1.1.1.3 ?
    I don’t see the benefit…
Or perhaps decide to have numbers only after a certain level ?

What I appreciate in Podium is this possibility to move tracks, change order, wrap, unwrap without dealing with static orders or categories like in others !
I very often change the level of a track or a group of tracks to insert a plugin, a bounce track or envelopes.

Perhaps can you begin your track names with a number if you want ?

That suggestion is even better than both of my suggestions. ๐Ÿ™‚

That way Podium would easily keep the current flexibility with tracks while putting the simple process of numbering tracks into the hands of a user..for instance in the Track properties area.

Even if the track numbering feature is just for audio tracks, it is a very glaring ommission for *any* multitrack host to not at least offer an option for it. โ—

A user configurable option in the track properties area would be absolutely fine under Layout for instance but at least somewhere in the Track properties area as well as possibly a right click option. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I would 100% prefer to set it and forget it as in other hosts (they have them on by default) by adding a Number all Tracks option in the Preferences > Grpahics tab. There is plenty of space for it there. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I don’t have the time to set it for every track every time…but having a Global option, Track properties and Right click option would surely suit everyone.

The global option is my number 1 choice. ๐Ÿ˜‰
