MaxParticipantHello Frits.
First of all – thanks for new 1.43 release and…
Is it possible to tweak plugin parameter slider without recording automation? EnergyXT has a great feature – you can select any plugin parameter or midi CC and control it by mixer slider.
It is very comfortable, because most often I don’t need to control all plugin parameters, so it’s not necessary to open VST plugin interface. I need to tweak 1-2 parameters, like cutoff or mod, or something else. Much better to make it in main Podium arrangement window (like in main EnergyXT window), not in VST plugin interface. Podium’s plugin parameter automation slider is good for it, but every time I touch it, curve automation starts to record. Any chance to tweak slider without recording automation? Now it’s absolutely unuseful for live playing or for “finding the sound” (i don’t know how to tell that in english – I mean, when you tweaking cutoff (for example), trying to find the best cutoff value. Is it possible? If no, can you please add this feature? And can you create a fader in parameter track inspector to control track VST parameter (or MIDI CC) even when mixer is closed?

At the moment, no. It will be difficult to make the existing parameter track sliders double as both recording sliders and independent edititing of current preset. Maybe another solution would be to extend the parameters listed in the inspector parameter panel with dials for editing the value. Sort of how the Podium native plugin editor is working. I’ll think about it.

Thank you, Frits. I hope, you’ll find the way to implement this feautre. Any solution wolud be a great help for live performanses with Podium.

duncanparsonsParticipantI guess one way would be to create a new preset for playing with. With the current preset selected, click ‘New’ – this will create a copy of what you currently have. Do your tweaking there. If you like what you’ve done, you can either edit and move the automation, or use that final preset as the one for the track. If you need to go back to your original, it’s there in front of you 🙂
Might be worth renaming it, so you remember what’s what..

MaxParticipantThanks duncanparsons!
But the idea is to have an ability to tweak one or two selected parameters of the instrument (or MIDI cc) right in the arrangement window without opening VST GUI. Very useful for live performance, as I said before 😉
