Ive recently downloaded a synth from the net called V2 by Farbrausch(I don’t no if youve heard of it), I was using it in podium all day and everything was going fine 🙂 , then it started to spike the cpu, the meter was permanently in the red 😕 , and also one of the sterio channels on the synth just cut off. Do you no why this might happen ❓
Is it a denormal problem.

ZynewaveI often run into this when demoing various synths. It is normally caused by a few badly designed presets, and changing the preset should make it return to normal. If not, then try reloading the plugin (switch the monitor button in Podium off/on).

Ive recently got round to using this synth again after scrapping it a while ago because of its bad behavior. It seems that presets with 0 release tend to cause problems. But when I stuck to this rule I still ran into big problems. The presets I was using were working fine, and then after so long the cpu would just start spikeing 😕 . Ive tested it in Cubase and it works fine, do you think it could be a bugg, if so I’ll send you the Project file. Also, should’nt you be able to make any sound that you want in any way that you want without this happening ❓

I forgot to mention Ive recently discoverd another great free synth from aurgur software, its a realy cool modular synth with some great effects and great sound qaulity. It does some weird things to Podium though, when loaded in Podium All the menus within Podium go blank 😯 , i.e the whole file menu disapears and all the other menu’s, they still pop down but theres nothing on them 😕 , even when you go to close the project you can’t see the options for saving or not saving, again the box apears but smaller and with nothing in it.
I’ll get onto sending you the file as soon as possible, and also the website were you can get the synth from.

If you mean the ‘release time’ of an envelope, then this can have a huge impact on CPU usage. The release time is the time that the plugin will need to process a voice after receiving a note off. If you play a quick pattern, even monophonic, the plugin will need to process a large number of voices simultaneously.

I’ve seen this happen with the KarmaFX Synth. Over the last few days I’ve been emailing with the Karma developer, and we have found the cause for the problem. We’re both using the same system dll file which causes problems in Podium, when unloading the plugin. The next Podium release will have a fix for this issue.
stuGlad to hear about the Karma situation Frits, thats one nice little synth and even nicer when you consider that its free nice one Frits 😀 . About the v2, I still don’t understand what you mean, if theres less release on and the notes cut of fairly quickly why does the plugin still need to keep processing ❓

Sorry, I thought you meant the release time was long. If the release time is short, then the number of simultaneous voices will be less, and should not cause a high CPU load.
stuYeah the release is set at 0 out of 127 and this seems to cause a problem, but even when I avoid setting any release to 0, after a while the cpu starts to spike anyway 😕 . The release problem sometimes happens with synth 1 (daichi) as well, but the release does’nt have to be on 0 for it to happen, I think its arround 20 or so when it occurs, and it usually starts happening just after Ive saved all changes to the project.
So this is a bug then is’nt it ❓ Do you want me to send you the project file, Ive got time to do it tomorow if Im lucky.

Ive been making some patches for the Karmafx synth ready for when the next Podium is released, everything was goin fine, after I’d done a few I closed the project and them re-opend it a bit later on to do some more, when I went to load some of the patches I had created previously the bank went of the screen (the one that is view’d inside the actual synth) and I could’nt get to my patches, is this an issue that will be sorted out in the next Podium. Also libary presets don’t seem to work with the synth, when you save one the next time you open the project the synth has returnd to its default patch.
ZynewaveI’m currently trying to reduce the occurrence of CPU spikes in Podium, which may improve performance with this synth. Perhaps you could wait until the next release, before we start searching for other causes for the problem.

stuNice Frits, but you still have’nt answerd the question about the preset bank within the synth going of the screen so you can’t get to certain presets (the ones at the bottom of the bank that go of the screen).
