why does not work ?
Win 7
Podium Free
That compressor supports external side chaining only in PT. You can use internal side chaining, though. I understand that you want to use it if you have it, but, there’s a lot of freeware alternatives, for that task – Reacomp and Red Phatt Pro are good examples, since they have pass filters on board and allow you to monitor the input.
Hope this helps, somewhat

Thanks …
I tried Vari Comp from Native Instruments, but did not like the limited options and a large CPU load …
have any ideas ?
Sorry Google Translator 🙂 …
Sorry, I know nothing about that compressor. By the way, I don’t owe c1, but I remember I was quite disappointed by that limitation when I was using it in other people’s studios. Anyway, maybe someone else can help you about that other one.
By the way, if you’re interested in freeware you can check this thread (pages 3,4 and 5 – we discussed a lot of free compressors and limiters, lately):

Thanks, interesting topic …
Ah, alex . . . I see you have been playing with Red Phatt Pro as well! Isn’t that compressor+ truly something? And did you know there is a switch and setting on it that, if set, will also butter your toast?
Or perhaps I should have saved that remark for Smash from that bundle. Have you tried that one yet? It does so many things — and fairly well — that I could hardly decide which folder to place it in. Exciter? EQ? Saturation? Etc.
WAVES. I suggest, unless you are sticking pretty well with Pro Tools, that there will often be issues now and down the road for you with most of their product. Great plugs no less, in fact ‘industry standard’ in some ways, but just be aware. It’s been an ongoing thing.

+1
Smash Pro – I have a “Mastering tools” folder 😉

I was just trying to help the man out. I know those plugins pretty good, since I could use them in other peoples studios. I don’t owe a recording studio, but two of my buddies do. So, when I get to record a band, technically, one of them takes the job, he records everything (or we do it together) and I take it from there and do the rest, or just mix and let him master (which turned out to be much better solution, especially when I had no time to rest my ears and “forget” how my mix sounded). And, yes, there are some problems (rather limitations like this one with external side chaining) in hosts other then PT. Btw, in one of those studios I mix on Nuendo and in the other one I get to choose between cubase and Reaper (which one do you think I choose ? 😉 😈 ). Anyway I really like some of those plugins very much, and if I had that kind of money, I know which ones I would buy immediately (that will probably never happen, because I like Neve, SSL and API best). On the other hand, if I had to pick only one plugin that would certainly be RComp (the best allrounder money can buy imo). :-k …. I haven’t even thought about it until now, but I think I’ll try to buy some of those plugins in the future. Probably not the ones I said I liked best, but they have some affordable bundles that contain plugins I would like to use – Rcomp and Rbass would be really useful to me (or I’ll somehow save up 2k even if it takes 10 years and buy all of those I really like best )
Actually, I’m happy with what I have now and spend my time learning new things in order to improve my mixing skills, because I know there’s no magic plugin that can save a mix or turn it into a masterpiece. It’s great to have good gear, but even the best gear makes no difference, if one doesn’t know how to use it.
