    1. Setting asio buffer size large(larger than 1024 samples).
    2. Record MIDI.
    3. Playing staccato chords.
    4. Some notes are recorded extremely short duration (shorter than 1/32 note at 120 bpm, 4/4).

I know nobody record midi with this large buffer size.
But after this test, I’m beginning to suspect everything.
How can I believe recorded note length is ‘correct’ even if I record with moderate latency setting.

I changed midi keyboard, audio interface. Same result.

    Hi,
I did several tests. This is the result.
    2048_samples
The settings are visible in the picture.
You did not specify which driver and which VST plugin you are using. Perhaps the problem is due to one of these.

I meant ‘playing technique’ not ‘instrument sound patch’.
It’s unrelated with what VST is used.
    midi
Track 1 is recorded with 128 samples.
Track 2 is recorded with 2048 samples.
    You can reproduce it easily.

I used DSK Overture for your convenience.(also installed 32-bit Podium for this)
I’m using Steinberg UR12 now. MIDI Keyboard is Roland A-49.
I was using ASIO4ALL with on-board Realtek chip, but same problem.
I think this problem is not due to drivers.

Ah, sorry, I’m a nag!
    Got it … I hope.

You’re right. I never noticed it because, as you have seen, I’m not a musician, so I don’t play/record almost never.

The problem is related to latency?
more samples = more latency -> incorrect notes (?) 😕
    What about…
