UncleAgeParticipantFrits, I put down XP Pro. However, I will almost certainly switch this year to Win7 64-bit. As soon as I:
1. Research all of my plugs for 64-bit compatibility
2. Purchase new components to build a new system.January 8, 2010 at 15:43 #17269
thcilnnahojParticipantVista 32-bit for me, as I don’t have a need to upgrade the computer yet. Running a 64-bit OS would be pointless on it and I don’t like Win7 particularly better than Vista.

druidParticipantAlready switched to 7 64-bit, and for the most part it’s fine. In fact, the problem I was was having (that I hadn’t mentioned until now) wasn’t Podium, it was my Tascam USB audio interface, where the latest drivers do not work (especially since they’re designed for their newer version of that interface).
So I use ASIO4ALL on the onboard and from what I can tell, it works fine.

Windows 7 64 bit.
The poll will only allow you to vote once. I create a new poll topic each year, so you can vote again in January.

I do not remember voting….can you see that I did?
Thanks

I can’t see who voted. I just know that the forum software logs who already voted, and prevents them from voting again.

trimph1ParticipantI’ve had this version of Vista Home Premium for 3 years now and have yet to see it crash–better than the XP I had

Mind, I’m on a Dell laptop right now and have Podium up and running on it–4Gb memory with 2 Ghz Dual core and a 500Gb hard drive—the desk top is just plain nuts—

Pod_BoyParticipantI’m using it on XP Home at the moment on my laptop (that I use
mainly for surfing) just to check it out.But I will mainly be using it on my dedicated DAW which is
XP Pro, so that is what I cast my vote as.Can’t see me ever upgrading to Win 7 – no need.
Not until I buy a new machine in a few years time, anyway,
seeing as I just built a new one.August 30, 2010 at 10:38 #19343

I’m glad though; I reckon Windows 7 is the next stage of Windows that was needed.

hal9042ParticipantPodium is the one and only cause to boot Windows (on my McMini).
I see no use in upgrading XP. 7 has no advantages for me.August 31, 2010 at 17:17 #19354
LiquidProj3ctParticipantWell, I’ll keep this PC with windows XP home until it die or 3 years more. I’m not willing to spend money if I can do music now with my actual gear (and I don’t have any work…so… π³ )

German FafianParticipantI was given Win 7 as a gift from a friend (ironically enough as a thank you for helping with some Linux server π )
I did not notice any increase in performance at all so Except for the new look I just could not get myself into using it for music and gave it to my daughter.
XP works perfectly well and I don’t want any fancy stuff.
If I wanted fancy. I’d install Linux and run 3d desktops and will run much better than 7 with half of the resources. π
I run Windows only because of my music/fractal software. π
