MelodyManParticipantAll the time that i have been using Podium, and loving it, i haven’t been able to figure out why it is necessary to arm the track AND push the record-button. In my opinion the arming of the track should be sufficient to start recording.
Am i missing something?

kyranParticipantI sort of like the way it is now:
I arm a track, hit the big record button, record a bit in, I hit spacebar to stop recording, the recordbutton switches off. I then audition my take, cut out a piece, hit the big record button and rerecord that bit.
Now if the “disengage when recording is stopped” behaviour from the record button is moved to the track arm buttons, I could continue working like I am used to.

You can think about it as a security valve. But you could do that it works in the way you want if you turn off the play/record option (preferences) “Deactivate record mode when playback is stopped”. Then just turn on the record button, forgot it, and start working as you describe.

Thanks!

thcilnnahojParticipantAn example of a situation in which I’d say it would be quicker to deactivate global recording mode than unarming each track is if you just want to audition something you’ve just recorded (imagine a drum set with 8+ mics) to decide whether to record it over again.
But yeah, leaving recording mode on at all times should take care of it.

I pretty much had the opposite thought. 🙂 I could live without track arming, for me it’s something that could be done in a more straightforward way with the track selection. On the other hand, Podium doesn’t seem to allow selecting multiple tracks at once.
Anyway, since I usually only record on a single track, I’d like it if there was an option to auto-arm the selected track, similar to the “Auto-assign to focus track” option for track inputs.

MelodyManParticipant+2.
Or, i would be satisfied if you could arm the track and then push K, without having to press the spacebar. Now it’s arm, press K and press spacebar. That’s one step to many in my opinion.

German FafianParticipantWhat we also need is a pre-roll count 😉
But I know it has been commented before 😈August 20, 2010 at 14:30 #19255

Indeed, an option to start playback as soon as record is enabled is missing.
