Free file comparison program.
Found this little program earlier today and it saved me a lot of time so I thought I would share 🙂
Basically, I thought that one of my external drives had died (Western Digital MyBook of course). But before I blew a gasket I pryed the case apart and put the drive into my system to make sure it wasn’t something in the case that was faulty, and I lucked out, the drive worked. Now just to make sure I backed up what I had, however, this required quite a bit of folder comparisons with my backup drive. I needed a program that would reduce the amount of time spent doing comparisons and would also help me make sure I didn’t miss anything important. I hadn’t backed this drive up since mid December so I was really nervous about losing a lot of stuff.
Wimmerge fit the bill. Had it all done in a couple of hours.
