Hi,
Perhaps that what I will request in this post will appear to be silly for everybody… but as I spend the most of my time in Podium with zooming and dragging the windows and the events in long projects, the keyboard shorcuts are for me a real pain !
I dream of a Podium version where all of this will be done with only the mouse (and the keyboard shortcuts for thoses who prefer it, of course…).
It is the case in other softwares (like Vegas), and I don’t think that it is more difficult to program ?
For example :
– dragging the window with the right mouse button, instead of Alt + Shift + Left Mouse Button
– horizontal zoom by vertical dragging from the time bar (like in Cubase or Samplitude), instead of Alt + Ctrl + Left Mouse Button
These simple things can completely change the way to work in a software when making a lot of editing. We can gain a lot of time, and among all, can be concentrate on what we do and hear instead of searching on the keyboard the good key combinations… This is my point of view.
I’ve bought a Claw (http://www.claw.com.au/) to simplify the use of these keyboard shorcuts : it works well for me, but a thing to which I didn’t succeed to adapting me, it is the direction of the horizontal zoom : it is exactly the opposite of my mental and gestural logic !
As for sliders, I go always to the left for small objects to the right for biggers (I suppose that we can also find that the “plus” represents “the more objects” and the minus side “the less objects”, but it doesn’t work like this for me 🙁 ).
It is even worth when I try to use the marvelous X/Y zoom : the vertical axis is “good” (small tracks when I go down, and large when I go up) but the horizontal is the opposite.
Since months, I try to force me to make this way, but I always hesitate at the time of moving the mouse, and once on three it leaves in the bad direction.
You can laugh… (my brain is too old to change some basic synapse connections !)
So, Frits, if some day you don’t know what to do (!!!), you will make me the happiest man if you could add somewhere an option : “reverse the horizontal zoom direction” 😉
Cheers,
