    You can trademark a phrase, though. “HMx Engine” is not currently being used.

    If you don’t want to go the route of an abbreviation, how about using the word “nested”?

    As for “hierarchical”…

    How about coining an abbreviation, like HMx Engine…or something like that? In your help, you can explain that HMx means “Hierarchical Mixing”, but all your ad copy and news releases can use HMx… 😉
