Excellent question! Thank you for asking
The messages I’ve gotten lately …
() The smaller screen ( & touch screen ) mobile platforms are more sexy than desk top
… because …
() GUI enhancements to directly support smaller screens have received quite a bit of attention lately
… which strongly suggests …
() bug fixes and feature requests which are not specific to the mobile market may continue to be be prioritized lower
… the direct result of which is …
() Some bug fixes and feature requests may not even appear on a road map any time “soon”
Perhaps none of this matters because it is your baby Frits – and I will defer to you to raise it properly 😉
May you have all the success you desire

quite true, if you ask me 😉
If you choose not make any commitments then what message is being sent about the future of Podium?

I wish I felt even a tiny bit of excitement regarding this news – as it is all I see is a bunch of teenagers trying to compose music while they drive.

Podium is a very unique work of art and science and I do appreciate the effort put forth thus far a great, great deal
A few years ago I joined others in requesting better feature support in the drum-map piano roll view – eventually it arrived and we have a “happy ending”.
It’s the eventually part that troubles me – if support for a requested feature is a year or so out (for whatever reason) then knowing that will force me to either work-around or go away for a while and come back “later”
I would prefer to stick around 😉
Anybody heard from Frits?
His last post appears to be “Thu Nov 18, 2010”

I think it’s clear that many are enthusiastic about Podium as a whole – and a lot of us are hoping for specific features in the next release.
and I enthusiastically agree 😉

I am inclined to believe that general development in MIDI features and their manipulation are the most desired features among the community here.
I know I want a more capable set of MIDI features ASAP but I’m not as sure that this is the best way to go overall – that is to say: Frits may have a different vision of the path to “functional completeness” and I try to respect that vision.

I hope our respected developer may also see this trend.

For all of the above, which i have not, & will not read in it’s entirety, Podium remains a pleasure to make music on. Get it? Make music. We’re not blaming our tools are we?
Seems like a good idea 😉
I understand and accept that development goals can and do change over time
I would like to know how existing feature requests are currently prioritized

I assume the problems you mention about tempo changes, are when you adjust the BPM value of a tempo event during playback. This currently causes the play cursor in Podium to jump. I’ll improve this in the future, so that the tempo can be adjusted in realtime without problems. However, tempo changes made with tempo events on the timeline should not cause problems. If you have problems with that, let me know.
Did this get fixed ?

Noted – thanks

(1) Start time + duration (bar beat:division percent), and text describing the event. The graphics next to each time indicate the relative position, i.e. the percentage. I just noticed that there is a graphics bug, introduced when I changed the percentage range from -50..+50 to 0..99 a few versions back.
(2) No editing, at the moment. The list view is only usable for diagnostics, where you for example can check for overlapping events, or zero duration events.
The code for the eventlist is very old, and I haven’t updated it in a long time.
Thanks Frits!
I do appreciate the current feature a lot and it would be pretty cool if you could support some editing – perhaps as basic as selecting an event in the list and providing a dialog box to modify it (including a “delete” option)
Would you please consider adding this feature request to your queue?
with respect,

It might make sense in Indian Music
(Many many years ago I was contracted to build a metronome that produced 3 different “beats” in three different time signatures – it was for a professor of Eastern Indian music at a local college – he said he wanted to use it to practice )

FWIW, it’s threads like this one that make me really want to embrace Podium and say goodby to Cubase…
I read that drum map support has been improved in a recent version of Podium and I hope to be checking that out very soon!
Thanks Frits – you have a wonderful vibe here and I wish you only the best
