Ah, okay thanks.
I should read through the guide finally… 😳
Where is that Podium.ini supposed to be? I did a search on C: and didn’t find it at all.
Hmm, for 2) I managed to get a different display by selecting the mixer screen from some key. In there I got to the menus and managed to put the toolbar back into the Arrange view…
Still, how about if I had removed the toolbar from all the views? Maybe there should be a key shortcut to get to the GUI edit menus at least, so there would be no possibility of a “dead end”?
Where is this GUI info kept? I didn’t see any files that looked like it.
Sounds good Frits, and welcome back. Do check out the KVR hosts forum, there is some new Podium related stuff there, at least this thread:
Your chain makes sense when starting the recording and setting it up.
But… when mixing, wouldn’t you be more likely to tamper with the “larger” units like overall volumes and effects first?
I guess Frits is secretly Japanese!
Seriously, I don’t really have an opinion about it yet – I just started a few days ago. As you say it seems ok on the arrange at least.
There are actually pretty neat things in Logic, such as:
You can easily select for example each C-note in all octaves. Useful when trying out different chord structures.
Or, selecting the notes on the first beat of each bar (or whatever), and doing some programmed thing to them.
I just looked at Fruity more closely, and there are some interesting tools in the piano roll part of it indeed. I was actually considering switching to it, but the arrangement part seemed too rigid and pattern-oriented to me.
Yeah, I think that the embedded editor is probably better than an editor inside the arrange window.
My top 2 wishes after a few days use are:
Control key and mouse behaviour when selecting/copying notes
(I have a feeling that this will be fixed pretty soon…)
and recording directly to child tracks – at least on MIDI tracks, why not also audio.
Both are discusssed in this thread:

Those are also in Logic, even the old Windows versions.

spritex, I see you changed your signature line at KVR!
Hehe, indeed. I was getting frustrated with the eXT2 development because of the broken state of the engine (I get horrible glitches whatever I do), which hasn’t gotten any better with the latest updates and Jorgen hasn’t commented on this for some reason.
Also the fact that it will probably take a loooong time before automation and other important things are implemented.
Before it was started, I got the impression that eXT2 is mostly ready and testing can start (in three phases). I was disappointed to see that it’s still very unfinished. Also, I cound’t care less about the Linux version.
I had no idea that Podium is as sophisticated as it is. 😆
There is a video tutorial about using multi-out VSTi’s, does it help?

Just try adding “Garritan Personal Orchestra (#1) Out 1+2” like you normally add a VSTi, does it work?

4) The current example projects require that the user installs a selection of freeware plugins. I also would like to have full example projects included with Podium. I just need to create zSynth, zSampler, zComp, zMaster…
It would also help if you made a small introduction to the demo projects telling what freeware plugins are used and maybe links where to download them.
And wanyze, I am new too and feel exactly the same way about Podium. It’s already in such a solid state that it feels future-proof. There are many small things missing, but most of them I can imagine being possible to add without major headaches – of course they add up to lot of work, but still…
I’m glad I found it!

Would it be possible to click to start a new note, and then be able to move it if you keep holding down the mouse button?
I just noticed that this is related to another thread:
http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1170
Mouse release is discusssed there as well, in a slightly different situation.
(And +1 to also Wanyze’s both suggestions.)
Yep, thanks for listening again!
I just checked, and in energyXT you can drag left to lenghten the sequence event.
You can also move the notes inside to the newly created space to left.
BUT, once you make a phantom copy, you can’t move the original notes past the original leftmost location (you can add new notes though).
I have a suggestion:
How about only enabling left dragging if no phantom copy has been made of that sequence event? That would be a clear cut simple solution, and would still add the functionality.
It would also be kinda more logical than in energyXT, because it’s a bit confusing that you can’t move some notes left but can create new ones.
This is not a very high priority request of course, but maybe this simplified solution wouldn’t be very hard to implement and break things…
