Thinking about this… If we can get rewire support than all the for those that want FL in Podiom it’s right there. That would be my preference.
Good thinking.
But Podium would have to be the slave wouldn’t it – sending all the processed midi from FLS to tracks / instruments in Podium, then the audio back to FLS ?
I find them really useful – especially for drum ‘n’ bass / jungle and electronica.
Often really inspiring / interesting results with minimal user effort – the kind of tools I like 😉

No.
Hopefully the screenshots will give you an idea of what I’m talking about then 🙂
So THAT’s why you uploaded those graphics! 😛 😉
I have always had zero interest in Fruity Loops. YMMV.
You’ve got to admit they look pretty cool though 😉

I am backing up both of my main default projects as I develop them(“direct monitoring” and “mixdown”) as both .pod and .ini complete setups.
Is this wise / necessary ?
There should be no need to keep separate copies of the Podium.ini file. The project contents do not depend on the setup file (unless you have different MIDI/audio interface configurations in your two setup files).
Also, the first browser tab (project object) is always “direct monitoring” even if I load up mixdown .ini or .pod file.
The setup file stores the last loaded project, which will be loaded when Podium starts up. Loading the setup file while Podium is running has no effect on the project.
OK – thanks.
I still can’t get the “Direct Monitoring” to change to “Mixdown” on the project object tab though – even if I load Mixdown (which appears on the 2nd tab) and then reopen Podium.
Or open the “mixdown” ini…
EDIT: I’ve discovered why now – even though the .pod file is called “mixdown”, the Project Properties name is still set as “Direct Monitoring”…changed it now.

I’ll have to investigate this. Have you imported the plugins in a new project recently? I ask because some months ago I changed the preset system so that plugin banks was automatically stored on the track. Older projects will not automatically take advantage of this.
Hmmm – yes, Ive rescanned the plugins several times quite recently.
So far the Powercore Virus and V-Station presets do not show up (they do in the SX2 browser).
I’ll check if any others behave the same.

The copy button works like a duplicate command, so pressing copy should have created an identically named copy of the highlighted profile in the list. Immediately after pressing copy, press the properties button to edit the new profile.
See my reply above…. 😀
My apologies Frits – I was trying to do this from the arrange page.
You have to do it from the main startup page !
Onwards and upwards….
thanks
How is the “Sequencer” profile saved ?
Everytime I open the Profile Properties, the name is highlighted in blue for editing but I can’t see a “save” option.
Is it saved when you press OK ?
Anyway, I tried copying it – where do you “paste” it to ?
There is no paste option when I open a new Profile Properties dialogue – just the same “sequencer” name flashing blue.
Do I need to create a new arrangement to do all of this because the only one available from the “new browser” window (in Arrangements and Sounds) is the same one I used for the sequencer profile.
And so when I try to change it, the changes happen to both arrangements.
I will get this eventually…

Are there any plans for Podium to move in this direction ?
I’m thinking of the fantastic things in FLS (piano roll editor) which make knocking out interesting patterns so quick and fun…chords, rhythmic chopping etc. etc.
I’d love for Podium to become my all powerful, stable (and Sysex compatible :)) music creation centre.

Not exactly sure what you mean-do you mean tools for midi algorythmic composition, or just more and better tools in general for using midi in Podium? 😕
Do you know FLS ?
Stuff like this…
and this….

so you can’t arrange your windows to a “default” setting for whenever you open the project e.g. they all appear in their stored positions across the 2 monitors ?
The number of open windows and their positions are stored in the setup. But if you have two browser windows open, they will both show the project page when you start Podium. You need to select the arrangement in both windows to start editing.
thanks Frits – I’ll have a play around later.
BTW my default Project folders are getting very messy..zillions of 3rd party VSTi’s and effects all over the place (I spent ages moving them around to organise, mainly in alphabetical order as Podium doesn’t do this) – folders with funny names, duplications, plugin channel mapping folders etc.
Although everything seems to work, it’s all a bit messy.
I think I’m going to take your advice and recreate them with just a few plugins to start with to learn how to organise them properly.

The only problem actually is that you have to open each arrange view and set its appearance each time you open the project…
That’s a bit of a pain – so you can’t arrange your windows to a “default” setting for whenever you open the project e.g. they all appear in their stored positions across the 2 monitors ?

I’m curious: You have the window stretched across two screens, so when you are editing arrangements the timeline is stretched across two screens? Isn’t that difficult to work with?
Yes and sometimes (never like to do things the easy way :))
Actually I haven’t got round to arranging the windows in Podium properly yet.
I just have the whole thing stretched across…
In Cubase I have the arrange page on left monitor & mixers on the right…but your “mixer” is glued to the bottom of the arrange page isn’t it ?
In Reason I have the sequencer on left monitor, rack on the right (the rack, unfortunately, is not resizable horizontally so it looks a bit lonely floating in the middle of a 19″ monitor).
In FLS, the main browser / step seq / mixer etc on the left and playlist sequencer on the right. The windows in FLS are generally not resizable so if some things (ie. mixer) is on the right, it’s too far away for me to read (especially with FLS’s cool DARK gui and tiny font size! )
Have you any suggestions for window arranging in Podium ?
OK – thanks.
Yes – “extend my desktop” is the way I have the dual monitors running.
So the only way for me to see it on one monitor is not to have Podium stretched across both (ie. Podium confined to one ) ?
Can I then stretch the main project page back over to cover both monitors ?
