I’ve had a good rant over at an Emu forum which got there attention
Could you provide a link?
Even if I leave Podium as is and do not start playback/recording I get the CPU indicator flashing red for about a second every 44 seconds approx. It doesn’t actually show up as a CPU value in the indicator, i.e. it remains at 0% but flashes red briefly…?
The red flash would then indicate that there is an ASIO buffer underrun. The normal cure for this is to increase the ASIO buffer size. If you let Podium run a while to get several red flashes, then you should see some ASIO errors on the report page in the interfaces setup dialog? Post the report here or email it to me.
Once every 44 seconds you say? Are you using 44100 samplerate? If you select a different samplerate, does this affect the error interval?
P.P.S. How is the Z-reverb progressing ?
I just posted a progress update in the zReverb topic.
An update on the zReverb progress:
Whew, I guess I could have chosen a more simple type of effect for the second plugin in the z suite 😉
Although I worked at TC Electronic for seven years, I was never involved in reverb algorithm design, so this has been a learning experience for me. Luckily the internet provides all the information needed. The basic components in zReverb were done a week ago, but the finetuning can take forever. I am pleased with the quality/performance at present, so now I only need a day or two to complete the editor and then I’ll release a zReverb beta version.

It’s still scribbled down on my notepad. I got caught up with the development of zReverb, which for some users is another of those “vital updates”.
Since you bring this up again; have you canceled the sale of your Podium license?
However, if the MIDI file in the List Browser is then dragged to a track doesn’t that create a link from the List to the Arrangement?
No. The MIDI file gets imported as a sequence of notes, all contained within the Podium project file. Sound objects are linked to their external file because the wave data are not embedded in the project file.
If that is not the case at present, could it be in a future development
It could be, but that’s a long way down the road.
Unlike with sound objects, when you have imported a MIDI file into a Podium project there is no link to the original file. So it cannot highlight the original MIDI file in the filelist panel.
The name of the sound is stored within the wav file. Podium uses this ‘name’ chunk when importing wav files. If you want it to behave like you describe, then I should modify the “export segment” command to store the user-supplied filename as the name inside the wav file, instead of the name of the sound object?
How do you weight flexibillity against ease of use?
It’s always a compromise.
What ranges does the parameters have?
The room size can be up to 6400 m2, 80 m height. And all the way down to 1 m3.

I’ve listened to the mp3 a few times and although its difficult to tell from an mp3 (curse those people that thought of mp3 compression) it does sound pretty good.
I can’t really hear much of an mettalic artifact to the reverb (again could be down to the mp3 process discarding the lower masked bits) so I am assuming you havn’t used the Shroeder process.
Actually so far I am using the standard Shroeder implementation for the late reverberation. However, yesterday I tried running vocals through it and noticed the distinct metallic timbre. I’m going to try alternative implementations, and experiment with modulation.
Sounds great! When do we get our mitts on it?
I think I can spend a lot of time experimenting and fine-tuning before I’ll be satisfied. Perhaps a beta will be ready in a week.
The program preset objects that are created under the “local bank” library preset are shared between all instances of the plugins. These objects are just handles for selecting a program number in the bank. The actual program names will depend on the bank that is loaded into the plugin instance on the track.
Using the properties dialog will change the name of the actual preset object in the Podium project. This was the old way of naming presets, but you should preferrably not use this method anymore. Use the “Name…” button or the equivalent “edit program name” menu to change the name of the program in the plugin. This is the name that Podium will display instead of the generic “Program 1” etc. names when the plugin is loaded.
