Now that I understand the basics of hardware definitions in Podium I feel that I understand the 99% of it. I’d like to help to the diffusion of this marvelous software and something I can do is make video tutorials with it.

I think that I covered the basics already, but sometimes I think that newbies can have some problems that I’m unable to see.

Feel free to ask anything related to Podium [like Podium navigation, or how to use my Supernova with Podium, etc] or producer techniques [like how to program a bass sound, how create a cool drum loop…] except mastering, since other people master my tracks. Please, expect only trance/techno/dance/house/acid related music and techniques.

Also, I’m having economics issues so I don’t have too much time, so expect some delay since your request.

    Best regards

Oh Sensei Master Liquid, πŸ˜› please make a step by step tutorial on how to use GSnap IN Podium. I need much help since I am new to “Pitch Shifting”.[Normally I’d try pitch shifting in Audacity…]

Hey LiquidProj3ct, that’s kind of you.

Any kind of ‘templates’ for sound mangling, experimental type stuff
based around free FX (i.e. stuff like Scuzzphut)..

You know some kind of interesting way to chain FX within Podium
itself, that maybe a noob like me wouldn’t think of straight away.

I’m being vague, so why don’t you just share some interesting
things that you have come up with.

Actually, a way to automate the FM features of Nucleum would be
great. Say over a couple of bars, but ever evolving.

I’ll try to figure it out myself and share what I come up with.
If it doesn’t sound horrendous πŸ˜‰

Maybe check out this thread to get a better idea of what I would
    like to achieve:

    Thanks again.

Hi, small grasshopper πŸ˜› , GSnap isn’t suited for realtime drastic pitchshifting or harmonizing, like Pitcher (see youtube video). GSnap is for small pitch fixes or T-pain voice effect.

In case that it’s for t-pain or pitch correction effect, I could make a quick video about how to setup GSnap, as a detailed example of my 3 video serie about how setup any plugin inside Podium, nothing musical or about production techniques since I don’t use such effects at all! Is that what you need? πŸ˜‰

    Hello πŸ™‚

I always do simple stuff because imo simple is always beautiful. However I’ve some personal tricks but I’m not sure that they would be related to experimental music. Like how to create those breathy hardcore/trance kick sound from a basic kick.

Maybe if you show me what effect or sound are you trying to achieve I could replicate it [mp3? youtube?], because with another person explanation about something I never heard before I feel a little lost πŸ˜‰

This is a general explanation for future request: I almost know my tools and you should too. If I randomly move the knobs of my VST I know how is going to sound without hearing it. It’s always better controling 4 vsts than have 143 unknow preset. I cannot learn atm new VST but I can show how to setup them if you experiment problems (and there isn’t bugs!).

Liquid I was trying to get something to basically be a “freeware version of Melodyne”. I’ve looked at the comments on the forums and one user suggested using GSnap[might have been you I don’t know]as a pitch shifter/correcter. I looked at this video and I wanted to do JUST as he did in PODIUM. But I don’t know HOW! πŸ˜₯ please help me.

Also I know there not a Melodyne[or anything REALLY CLOSE to it] freeware plugin copy out there, yet. But if there is and I’ve overlooked it, post the link and I’ll check it out.

Thanks Liquid![Every time I see that now, I think of Liquid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid Series. he was one badass “brother” of Solid Snake. πŸ˜› ]

Yes… you got me and my proj3ct, I’m developing the best nuclear sonic weapon… and it will be called metal podium gear πŸ™‚ Just joking, I’m surprissed that you’re the second person that guess where I get inspired for my name. I just played six years ago (i think) and I liked the name “Liquid”. And I choosed to save to Ocelot πŸ˜‰

Don’t worry, I just cloned that behavior and I have sounding GSnap on my PC. Expect the video for the next week (I need a double jack cable to be able to record audio from and to my computer). However… it’s the first time I try to make an hiphop beat, don’t expect nothing cool! πŸ˜†

GSnap can do what Melodyne does, not even close. GSnap is like Autotune, but it can harmonize nothing. It just alter the pitch a little. However with the video you will be able to use it in Podium, you’ll see it’s very easy.

I love the Metal Gear Solid Series and I always watched my older brother play because he makes it seem like watching a movie. I’ve played Metal Gear[on Nintendo], Metal Gear Solid[PlayStation] and a bit of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty[PS2]. Glad to see another MGS Fan. MGS4 was the coolest to me by far. That and MGS2.

Liquid: Come at me Sssnake! 😈
    Solid Snake: Liquiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiddddd!!!!! 😑

Me: 😯 Oh crap it’s gonna be a brutal fight now….

I want you to mix as YOU want to. I’m not into hiphop production. I’m into Industrial Electronica Rock. In other words, Celldweller, Blue Stahli, Combrichrist, The Luna Sequence, BT, Paul Oakenfold, Alice DJ, Baby Alice, DJ Tiesto, etc etc. Electronic music. If you think hiphop will suit the tutorial, you can, but as long as you do it in Podium step by step, mix the way YOU want to.

Ah ok, I understand. I wonder how much Melodyne costs? *checks website*

Thanks Liquid! And stop messing with the Patriots! πŸ˜›

If I find the time I’ll do some ‘minor tweaking’ (from hiphop to happy hardcore πŸ™„ ). I think you would like the music I do then πŸ˜‰

I’m late to the party, but I thought I would point out that “sensei” is a Japanese word, and the concept of “grasshopper” in this context comes from an old TV show, which was about Kung Fu, which is Chinese.

And that’s trivia for today! I wouldn’t mind seeing GSnap in a tutorial come to think of it, last time I tried it it didn’t work. But I’ve been so busy it was a year ago or more and I can’t remember anything about it. πŸ™

I feel there is, for unknow reasons, a strong hatred between Chinese and Japan people. I say this because, ie, some months ago I saw two chinese or japan girls and I decided approach them. However innocently I asked them if they were from Japan or China…. after five seconds of umconfortable silence and looks, they started to scream me in their native language which I don’t have a clue about πŸ™„ My friends joke me about that yet πŸ˜€

You will see it, I hope this week. There are some video ideas in my head, one of them will have a complete (and enough professional) track πŸ˜‰

‘course there is hatred, the Japanese tried to take over China through Korea during World War II! πŸ™‚ But it’s more about feeling offended that someone associates you with someone who looks similar. The Canadian accent is different than the American accent (ok, well, there are lots of American accents, but let’s simplify the example), and Canadians get quite offended if you call them Americans. Not everyone, of course, but it’s a known reaction. New Zealanders also don’t like being called Australians. To us white western people, a lot of Asians look and sound quite similar, but because they can pick the differences, it offends them more.

That kind of reaction, though… Maybe they were Korean, or Vietnamese, , or something else, hahaha. Best not to be involved with people who will react like that methinks!

Could also be that Japan is small and .. well, not very widespread anymore. There are probably insecurities in every race that you will get.

I look forward to your video! πŸ™‚

I just uploaded it, how to use GSnap in Podium with a good amount of theory about devices, so you, hopefully, could use any plugin that doesn’t need route midi output to another device (Podium doesn’t support MIDI routing between devices yet).

Whoa! I’ve just had a quick view but it looks like a comprehensive explanation of Podium’s Device management.

    Nice one =D>
