Yea yea, I know audio time stretching has been asked for again and again and again.

I’m actually not talking about time stretching exactly.
I had a thought, there are programs out there with time stretching BUT they also have a resample option too. So it acts as it traditionally does with a faster speed raising the pitch, slower speed lowers the pitch. What I’m thinking is, could we just at least have that (I’m figuring shouldn’t take much) and if someone needs the pitch at the original, a pitch shifter effect can easily counter the pitch change. (I’ve actually been doing this with some samples in shortcircuit every once in a while)

Correct, that is simple resampling, and that will be the first method I implement when adding support for audio stretching. True time-stretching (pitch-preserving) will come later as another option you can select on audio stretched events.
