    Hi

I have been recording some piano pieces using Podium Free. I am really pleased with the quality of the software minus one or two technical problems.

One is that after setting the punch in option I then bring the cursor back to about 10 seconds before the start of the punch in point. On other multi track recording devices / DAWS I have used, the user can hear the track during the run up to the punch in point in order to time his/her entry, but with Podium free I have been unable to do this. All I get is silence. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    cheers

    Nick

Hi Nick. You are correct in your observation about no playback on a record armed audio track with punch-in/out set. As soon as an audio track is record armed, its playback is muted, regardless of whether a punch range has been set. I may change this behavior in the future.

As a workaround you could work with two tracks within a group track, where one track is record armed with the audio input assigned, and the other is purely a playback track. When you have recorded something on the record armed track you want to keep and preview on your next punch-in/out take, you can drag the sound event to the playback track.

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply.

It’s good to know I hadn’t been doing anything wrong. I suppose the paid version doesn’t have this limitation?

I may give the two track approach a try.

    cheers

The paid version also has this limitation.
