I’ve been stuck with my dual 600mhz system for 6 years now (insert gasping noise here), and I’ve become used to push every percent of performance it has to offer. Therefore it is vital for me to know how much processing headroom I have left whenever I’m working on a project.

However, the CPU meter bar Podium offers is very hard to read, especially on the 1600×1200 19″ CRT monitor I have. Just one pixel on the CPU bar spans over several percent… At least that’s what it feels like. I think it is mostly because of the height/width relationship of the rectangle containing the CPU bar.

There are two things that can be done to improve this:
First of all, the font used to draw the percentage number is so small it only results in a blur of pixels. A solution is to use a bigger font size or a bolder typeface to make the contrast stronger.
Secondly, a slimmer CPU bar going sideways (horizontally) is much easier to estimate how hard your computer is working by giving it a quick glance.

For the time beeing, my financial situation is improving. Hopefully I’ll be able to build a new computer soon, without doubt making Podium my primary sequencer in the same go. 8)

I have increased the font size of the CPU indicator. Will be released in version 1.35. The alternative visual representation will have to wait for another time.
