    Hi Frits,

I was quite a while absent. I used Cubase instead of Podium, because I wanted to wait for Podium to grow. Now I come back and you made it a lot better. Thank you for this!! The EQ and the reverb are wonderful. Now I even understand and appreciate the bounce feature! It is awesome!

Now I need to do a song with Scarbee Imperial Drums XL. I want to do it in Podium, because the bounce feature is much better than in Cubase. I am very confused by the technique it needs for setting up drum tracks.

    First the preset system:
I have opened one instance of Halion Player, which is the sampler for Imperial Drums XL. I have 5 programs. Podium tells me to create a library preset. As I assume, I need to create a bank preset in order to save the state of all 5 programs, right? How do I know what kind of preset I need to create for VSTi? When I use Jamstix, I only create a library preset that is a program and not a bank. How do I know if all necessary data is saved when leaving Podium? This whole preset system is very confusing. If Podium would just save everything inside the pod-file by itself, my world would be easier πŸ™‚

    the drum map:
Now I checked the Podium Guide, but I couldn’t solve this by myself. How can I create my own drum map? And how can I change or delete several Notes from this map? The guide says, there is a preset that functions as folder for program presets that are the particular drum sounds. But how can I delete notes I do not need? When I let Podium create a standard Drum Map, I can change the single programs inside. It would be great to do that out of the sequence editor. Or to reorder them according to taste. That would be far more easier for me.

    the mapping:
Will there be, at some point in the future, a feature that allows automatic track creation and mapping for MultiOut plugins? It is a really pain to create 12 outputs for a single instance of Halion Player.

I hope you can help at least with the drum map! Thanks in advance!

    P.S. Is there a ZComp planned? πŸ˜‰

EDIT: I have edited the drum map created by Podium. But when closing Podium and opening it again, Halion only loads one program. And not the whole bank. What do I wrong?

    Hi Max,

Yes, you need to use a bank library preset. If this is a new project you created since the new preset system was implemented, the program presets you see in the preset panel should be children of a ‘local bank’ preset. You can verify you have the ‘local bank’ preset with the list browser. Just assign the desired program to one of the tracks with the Halion player, and the project should automatically store the plugin settings on the track. No need to create a new preset object.

EDIT: I have edited the drum map created by Podium.

I assume this means you have found the answers to your questions about the drum kit presets.

P.S. Is there a ZComp planned?

Yes. I’m still working on zReverb. After that I think the next plugin will be zMaster, which will have a limiter, dithering, mono/stereo and mid/side monitor options and possibly specialized level metering. Before I start on that, I’ll do some work on other Podium features.

πŸ™‚ Yes, but I still don’t know how to delete some notes/programs from the drum map. Is this possible?

And what about the “automatic mapping for multiple out VSTi”?

Yes. You can delete individual drum key presets, by locating the presets in the list panel/window (not the preset panel in the track inspector). If you enable the ‘drag-reordering’ list option, you can reorder the drum key presets any way you like.

And what about the “automatic mapping for multiple out VSTi”?

If you mean that the first program preset should automatically be assigned to the track once a global plugin instance is assigned to the track, then that is going to be implemented in a future update.

Ok, thanks to you, I could change the drum map! That helps a lot. But when restarting Podium, Halion still does not recall the whole bank, but only one program. I have to manually reload the entire bank.

Am I doing anythin wrong? The Drum Map Preset is a bank, and thus should save all programs, right?

Ok, I think I understand what you want to do now. Have you created a new preset configured as a ‘drum kit’ or have you converted one of the existing programs?

Check out the ‘Song B’ in the freebees demo project. The Drumatic plugin is set up with multiple outputs and a ‘kit template’ preset (which is just an empty program preset) is assigned to the Drumatic MIDI tracks.

I have done both πŸ™‚ finally got my head around this. It’s quite “different” to other hosts, but once I understood, everything was fine. I never used the list window, but now I see its potential!

Sorry for bugging you with this, Frits!

    Thanks,
    Max
