Something that I don’t understand with the new version (Compact view) : I want to create a new track inside an existing group (level 2).
Before, I had just to double click and choose level 2 in the Properties box.

Now, I don’t see at all how to do it.
If I double click to create a new track it is at level 1 like the master, and I can’t move it without switching to Expanded mode. In the Move options, moving it to the existing Group is grayed.
I see only an option to insert an Effect track or a Bounce track inside the Group, but I don’t want to use an effect or a Send, just add some audio tracks.

    Am I totally blind ?

Another thing : how to duplicate a track ?
Expanded mode : Copy / Insert track.
Compact mode : ??? (Ctrl C / Ctrl V puts the new track in the first level)

PLEASE : could you add a keyboard shortcut to switch between Compact and Expanded modes ?

    Thanks !

Remember to enable the “use as group track” option in the track properties of your group track. This should put the group in the “move to group” submenu, and right-clicking the group track will show a “new child track” command.

Double-clicking below the last track now always places the new track under the master, but if you right click you get a “new track in group” submenu.

    OK, I see.
But what is the use of a track with childs NOT being a Group Track ?
Don’t this option must be activated by default ?

And since the Compact mode is nice, the Expanded mode remains for me a lot easier to use thanks to dragging.
The Compact mode looks for me like a Locked mode and the Expanded a mode for edition.
So switching between the two seems to be something trhat must be easy.
PLEASE : could you add a keyboard shortcut to switch between Compact and Expanded modes ? (I suppose that it must need to you two minutes and three lines code ?).

    Thanks.

If you intend to add child tracks to a track, you should enable the group option of the parent track. An alternative implementation could be to remove the group option from the track properties, and instead add a “new group track” command next to the “new track” command.

And since the Compact mode is nice, the Expanded mode remains for me a lot easier to use thanks to dragging.

I’m going to add support for drag reordering effect tracks in compact mode. So please be patient.
