Okay… I’ve added a track under the master… I record it, I can see the waveform but it doesn’t play back. This happened to me once before and I don’t think I ever figured out what happened or what I did to fix it.

    Really weird and really frustrating.

Can you email me your project file, or a screenshot of the track layout? You don’t have to attach the wave file.

    On its way.

Got it. The routing of your problematic audio track up to the master out appears to be fine. The problem may be exhausted disk access. Without changing anything on the problematic audio track, try deleting some of the other bounced audio tracks (keep a backup), and see if this will make the track play eventually. If this is the case then I will devote release 1.53 to optimizing disk loading. I would also add a disk load percentage indication next to the CPU indicator, so you at least know if a problem is due to excessive disk access.

Okay… I deleted all the bounce tracks. Same thing.

    Tried re-recording… Same thing.

I then, muted all the other tracks except the recorded track and the tracks it routes through to the master.
    Still nothing.

Re-recorded and same thing, no sound being played.

I then deleted everything but that track (and the master) and still nothing.

I tried creating a new project and it works fine.

Ok, I’m glad its not due to the disk loading. When you say you hear no sound, do you mean just the recorded track, or are all the other tracks also silent? If there is no sound at all, try bypassing the Ozone plugin you have on the master track.

What is the bit-resolution of your recorded sound file? You can find that info in the sound properties dialog.

Ooh, hang on. I just took another look at your project file. The audio track you are recording onto is bounce enabled. Meaning that even though you have an audio input on the track, the recorded sound will be treated as a bounce track, so it will only play if you activate the B button. You should generally not enable the bounce mode on regular audio tracks.

I hear the other tracks, but for testing I’ve muted them out (or soloed the track I’m trying to fix).

    I’ve removed Ozone. Same problem.

I can monitor okay, I can notice the effects of plugins when I put them on. I record and I see the waveform but it will not play back.

Bit resolution is 32 bit floating…

Wave files on other tracks that do work are 16 bit.

interface is set for 16 bit.

What should happen if I click on “open sound editor” from that panel? I get a blank box regardless of the wav object I do this to. If I double click on the file from the list box, I see the waveform. Should I not get the same results?

That is because it is configured as a bounce track. If you enter the track properties for the track and remove the bounce mode option, then any audio you record onto the track will be set to the proper bit resolution for your soundcard inputs.

Did you notice my previous reply in this topic?

Are you referring to the ‘open sound editor’ command in the context menu for the sound event? That command should open a slave sound editor, same as if you double-click the event on the track. If you double click the sound object in the list panel, this will open the sound in a master editor (with transport toolbar and no links to the arrangement). If you get a completely empty editor window, then the sequence profiles have been messed up. You can fix that by loading the default setup.

No I didn’t but I will give that a try right away.

Removing bounce mode option worked. Loading the default setup also resolved that other issue…

Thanks for your help and being so responsive.

    Removing bounce mode option worked.

Great. I’ll implement a popup warning for tracks that are both bounce enabled and have an audio input assigned. This will hopefully help the user resolve this type of problem scenario.
