With a project and arrangement open, I cannot resave externally-edited samples when they feature in the arrangement. I’ve tried this with the latest ZP demo and ZPF (both of which are very impressive). I’ve tried stopping playback, toggling the power button, switching arrangement, changing Browser directory and selection, but the files remain locked: I can open and edit them externally, but not resave under the same name/location.

My best workaround is to save the edited samples under a new name, then relink the project file. That isn’t too bothersome, but I wondered if there’s a better way? (I know ZP has a capable built-in editor which can resave, but I want to do other, bespoke editing to the sounds.) If it matters, I’m using Windows XP SP3 and have Administrator privileges. Thanks!

Currently there are no easy workarounds for that. The sound files are kept open/locked for performance reasons. It ensures the files can be read quickly when edited or streamed. This behavior may change in the future.

Rather than saving with different names and then relinking the files in the project, it may be quicker if you close the Podium project, save the sound files in your external editor, and then reopen the Podium project.

Thanks Z, that is helpful. While I’m here, I have one more sample/project issue:

On the project screen, the Contents list can be expanded to show a list of referenced audio files. Their default action is to open in another tab, at same level as project and arrangement tabs. But how do I close such an audio file tab? (Again I can work around it easily enough, but is there a key combination I’m overlooking?)

There is no shortcut to close it. It will stick around, until you open up another object that will replace the tabs. In the future I may provide a way to close a tab.
