Firstly, this has probably been requested before but is there any chance of mouse wheel support for the sliders and faders? Maybe with a modifier key (shift) for fine control.

The other thing is, I wonder if it would be possible to have an option to set limits on the range of individual controls. e.g. right click on a slider and choose ‘set control range’ or something. Then you could set an upper and lower limit like 0db and -30db or whatever. Likewise with pan controls left 50% and Right 50% for example.

It could be represented graphically like so:

From my point of view it would be useful as I like to mix stuff on the fly and I could throw faders etc, without having worry about going too loud or soft and so on.

Hope that makes some kind of sense. 🙂

I’ve asked about this before (http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1964), and I think Frits was not aversed to the idea, judging from the response.

Adding this feature doesn’t quite gel with my current quest for UI simplification :). Perhaps we can discuss this again after I’ve completed my revision of the track header UI.

Is there a reason why you can’t settle with resizing the track headers horizontally to widen the sliders?

It didn’t occur to me to try that, or to increase the mixer region to full screen height for that matter, which does make things a lot easier.

I certainly support your moves toward UI simplification, but in this case the option to set fader limits would be off by default and only set by the user in the individual track properties. However, as a simpler alternative, perhaps we could could have an option on a per-track basis to set the upper limit of just the volume faders to 0db, perhaps?

    Thanks for looking anyway 🙂

Yeah, I thought it had been raised before. Reaper has had this feature for quite awhile and it works nicely. I know Frits raised concerns about scrolling the track headers but it doesn’t take long to get the hang of positioning the mouse in the roughly the right areas. Currently, when the pointer is hovered over a fader, its background is highlighted so it seems that as long as the pointer is in that position then the mouse wheel could have fader control too.
