    Hi,

I need to stream the midi-output of Jamstix to a sampler plugin. When will this be available in Podium?? Very important feature for drum recordings, imho… ๐Ÿ˜›

By the way, I really enjoy the features Podium already has… ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t know when it will be available. It requires some careful planning. It involves additional coding on the engine, which is something I try not to do too often. The engine is by far the most complex part of the application.

It is on the plan, disguised as this item:
MIDI plugin support, either by supporting MFX or supporting the use of VST plugins with MIDI only.

Podianer, does JamStix allow for output to go to a MIDI channel? If so, you could use MIDI-OX and record the MIDI back into Podium. There might be a small MIDI latency, but that could be Dragged back into line after recording, since it should be consistent if found.

If it doesn’t support that, then we’re back to the drawing board in the short term!

If the goal is to record the MIDI output of the plugin, then this can be done in Podium. Just record enable the plugin track. What is not possible currently, is streaming plugin MIDI output into other plugins.

    Hi Podianer

If you still need to stream in realtime…

I use energyXT inside Podium to do the kind of streaming you need… I have energyXT inserted as an instrument, then inside energyXT I have the plugins. energyXT isn’t free however, but you will find it useful

    Hey Super Crunchy,

Thanks for that, but buying another host/plugin is not what I can afford at the moment.. perhaps I have to record the midi output of Jamstix and feed that track into the sampler. Not that elegant… ๐Ÿ™„

    Hi Podianer,

I am seriously considering buying Podium – it seems to do (almost!) everything I need.

I, too, am a Jamstix owner, and was wondering if you solved the MIDI output problem you were asking about in this thread.

Also, How about the MIDI in? I don’t fancy copying my MIDI parts!

For the non-Jamstix savvy – Jamstix is a VSTi drummer which follows MIDI input to create its grooves. I would typically send bass and keys MIDI output from my sequence to Jamstix to get it to generate a drum track.

    Hi JohnR,

I, too, am a Jamstix owner, and was wondering if you solved the MIDI output problem you were asking about in this thread.

To be honest: for now, it seems that I can’t work with Podium the way I need. That’s why I temporarily changed back to Cubase. Until there are some features I really need, I’ll stay with Cubase. ๐Ÿ™

Jamstix e.g. spikes in Podium, which it doesn’t in Cubase. Ok, that’s a problem that only appears on my DAW, but I need Jamstix working.

It’s not that I like Cubase more than Podium, but MultiFX, Offline-Bounce and Midi-Streaming are way to important for me, that I can live without them. It seems, that even Frits doesn’t know, when these features arrive. That means, I have to wait for Podium, until my wishes come true.

Hope you find a way to make Jamstix running with an external sampler in Podium. โ—

    Thanks for replying.

Looks like I will have to wait before buying Podium as well. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

you should give VSTHost a try:

    http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm

Scroll down to the “VSTHost Slavery Suite” section

So, you’d have VSTHost.exe (Slave) and Podium running alongside each other, and a VST effect or instrument “Master” of VSTHost inserted in Podium to control the Slave.

Jamstix and sampler would be inside VSTHost.exe (the slave)

I haven’t tried this myself… but I’ll give it a try some time, you should do the same Podianer… it might be a nice workaround until Podium eventually supports MFX and midi streaming from plugin to plugin

One more thing… VSTHost is free! The author says you can donate money if you feel like it thought ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is the help PDF for it:

Thanks for the link. I’ll have good look at it when I get home tonight. Could be just what I’m looking for….

let us know how you go. I probably won’t try VSTHost, but I’m checking out this one which was recommended by someone on KVR

Edit: Ignore this plugin, it’s a VST effect chainer only (not for instruments as well)

However, for anyone who is put off by having to have one group track for each effect applied, this could be your answer!

    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1068.html

put all your effects for one track (eg mixing processor for a track) in this plugin to clean up the Podium mixer… it’s in beta stage though, so use at your own risk

by the way, eXT is only 39 euros… it’s well worth it. I use it alot to work around any current Podium shortcomings (such as midi streaming). I don’t sequence in it though, I just use it as a mini host within podium

The demo is fully functional, but you can’t save and reload until you purchase… give it a try, you might be hooked! PS it can appear to be quite complex to new users so check out the manuals on the energyXT site
