I downloaded Zynewave free demo and read the instructions for my casio midi keyboard. After turning it on my pc recognized new software then the icon for new software disappeared and nothing else happened. Will I need to upload/download additional software/hardware to play my keyboard on my pc?

How have you connected your keyboard to the computer?

What do you exactly mean by that?

Normally, once you’ve connected the keyboard’s MIDI OUT to the computer (either through USB or MIDI IN on the sound card) the software should see it.

Check the MIDI out settings on your Casio though. There could be issues at that level.

No additional software needed, unless you are using USB for MIDI communication. Then you’ll need some driver to install perhaps.

This may not need to be said (and I don’t know if it applies to using purely MIDI, but it does if using USB MIDI devices connected through USB). The keyboard needs to be plugged in and turned on before opening the software, in almost all cases I’ve experienced or heard of.

Podium supports standard MIDI devices, so I can’t imagine you’ll have any problems using it, as long as your drivers (if you aren’t just using Windows defaults, which I’d recommend starting with), and hardware are functioning correctly.
