So, I just bought a used Tascam US-122L for use with recording, and I’m having a few bugs with figuring out how to use it with Zynewave. After a few days of messing with it, I got to where I can record my bass in and hear the playback as well as the live monitor through the track.

The problem is that I’m still having issues with getting my VSTis to work with the US-122L. I’ve set it up so that the master track plays out of the device, and audio is going through just fine, but none of the VSTi’s make any noise. I’m not sure if somehow the VSTi output isn’t set up to go through the US-122L or what, but I have no way to check. Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this?

    – Open a new project
    – Right click on the empty area below the master track header and create a new track
    – Click on “source” in the new track header and choose a vsti
    – Grab the pencil tool (at the top of the screen) and click on the first bar of the new track (it should turn blue)
    – Click on the editor button at the bottom of the screen
    – Click on the keyboard that shows up

    Any sound?

    Hello Joe,
I used to use a TASCAM interface too. It was a precursor to the model you use and was a sturdy little unit. I doubt the device discriminates between VSTi’s and other audio streams. It would be a scandalous limitation for TASCAM to implement.

    Alternatively, using the select tool,

    1. Double-click in the timeline to create a blank audio/note event; its size will be equal to quantize length. Double-click + hold + drag to create events freely set its length.
    2. Double-click audio/note events to call up its editor.

To expand on alex’ suggestion, have a look at Zynewave’s YouTube channel. There are tutorials on how to use Podium and more advanced production techniques.

When you’re comfortable using Podium, and export some music out of it, please consider sharing it with our Soundcloud group – Podium Poppets 😀
