    @adimatis

I just need to be able to use a 100 bpm loop into a 120 bpm project in Podium without so much of a headache. Something like that.

While browsing through the free plugin database in KVR I stumbled upon this one, tested it thoroughly, no crashes or freezes, and it just works perfectly for your needs:

    Maik Menz LoopDrive
    http://www.kvraudio.com/db/3297

Ideal for tempo-matching. All you need to do is to load the wave file inside LoopDrive by clicking on the little folder icon and from there on adjust the tempo to match the tempo of your project/host by clicking on the “link to host” button down at the bottom. Alternatively you can adjust the tempo by turning the knob at the right. I guess then you could easily bounce the track and use it as any other wave file/loop in the timeline.
EDIT: The plugin is MIDI triggered, so you can activate the loop/s through the Piano Roll as well, and then bounce when the desired results are achieved.
This little gem also offers a pattern matrix, so variations and grooves are right there on your fingertips.
    Job Done 🙂

And here are some demonstration videos:

There is also another one designed for the same purposes by SKNotes called Traks
    http://www.sknote.it/download.htm
…but for some obscure reason Podium just won’t load it here. Opens an error box. 😕 You can give it a try though, maybe it will work on your systems.

So I hope this will be helpful for you guys.

    Peace

you may call my nosey but i’d really like to get an idea of what to expect in the next releases – something like a roadmap or a list divided into a) high priority b) normal c) when i’ve finished a) and b) !
or maybe hold a poll where every licensee can vote for his / her top 3 features out of a list of your 50 topics ?!?

All I can say is that the next few releases will be maintenance releases. I haven’t laid out all the reported issues in a roadmap, as that is not the way I prefer to work. Once I start to look deeper into the 50+ topics I have on my todo favorite list, I may find that I need to rethink the priorities.

i see, so we can only keep posting requests and keep our fingers crossed, can’t we? i thought keeping in touch with existing customers and listening closely was a great chance for small companies to stay in business?

I’m sorry if you read my response as being dismissive. It’s the very fact that I DO try to listen and respond to user requests, that I don’t put out a roadmap. If I commit to a deadline of a series of features, then I have no room to adjust the development according to problems and good suggestions posted on this forum. I’ve tried in the past to come up with predictions on when certain features would be available, and the predictions never held up because discussions on the forum resulted in implementation of unplanned features. So I stopped giving estimates on new features, since I don’t want to give users false hopes. This is a standpoint I’ve had for a couple of years now, and something I’ve expressed in many topics in the past.

I have to say without a doubt on many occasions too numerous to mention, Frits has gone way beyond what I personally expected from him to accommodate user requests (mine included). Honestly he has to be one of the most responsive devs out there. It would get very messy indeed if promises were made and not kept.

Anyone would likely get upset if they are told x and y happens. It would not be a pleasant situation for the customer or dev promising such things. Better to leave things open ended IMO.

There may be less info on what is coming next or what areas will be worked on for certain but I think it is a far better thing to operate within the limits of your capabilities as a dev.

I have seen some forums where promises are made and not kept…it’s not a pretty sight. I personally prefer to have little or no info (if that is what the dev is comfortable with) and have my expectations at a reasonable level that matches the devs.

I think that will create a nice halfway house between the devs attempts to please as many customers as possible and the customers attempt to gauge what is coming next in a reasonable way.

This is just my 2 cents on the matter and my opinion only. Apologies in advance if it upsets anyone. I doubt it will frankly and would be surprised if it did but just in case. Peace 🙂

While Frits might be reluctant to get people’s expectation up too much, you could always try and suggest a little feature or tweak every now and then. Some great things in Podium have evolved from a simple suggestion at the right time. 😉

(Pardon me if you’ve been doing that all along already! I haven’t been around much, lately…)
