When Podium reaches V2 will it be another incremental release (as good as they usually are!) or will something more substantial appear to herald it’s arrival?
Of course, I don’t expect Frits to make any bold statements regarding this – it’s just a thought that occured to me whilst installing the latest version, that’s all…
Mart.

Like: I’m going to rewrite the engine in C# and .net and start a new beta cycle? π
Thankfully I’m still happy with the core functionality of Podium, and that’s why there have been no “major” revisions. I’ll probably try to introduce a nice feature in V2.00 so that it at least will have a higher profile than the 1.99 release π
Any suggestions for the V2 killer feature?

And will there be an upgrade charge and if so what will the price be. (No, I don’t mean ‘something reasonable’ or ‘quite good’, I mean in actual currency $$, etc.)
π

At the moment I have not planned to charge for updates. I may introduce an add-on license if I develop more zPlugins or if I license dither/SRC/time-stretch technologies from third parties.
I do however intend to gradually increase the license price for new customers, as the Podium feature-set grows. No date set for this either.

In other words-wait and see. π
Cool! 8)
don’t current registered users get free updates even if it changes? If I remember correctly? β

If what changes? All current users will get V2 free of charge.
If you decide to start charging for updates from a specified point on…

This is not something I have planned. But if we look far into the future, then maybe some day Podium will have gained so many features (and price increases) that it would make sense to create gold/platinum/whatever editions. I hope I can avoid this, but future sales will show if this is a necessary step. If that happens, then existing customers will get a free license upgrade to the new “pro” edition.
My suggestions for headliners for V2… π
1. Notation, even on a basic level. Not every host has this.
2. At least two more zplugs. I would have said the zGrid “Siegried” discussed here (for new Podium users)
…but I got the impression that was not necessarily going to be a V2 feature. I think Podium could certainly use that much sooner rather than later IMO. A great idea for a plug. Probably still top of my FR list.
My suggestions for zPlugs in V2
a. zCompressor
b. zSampler
I don’t think a few new plugs alone would be enough for V.2 as new zplugs have appeared recently. So I would also add something like the FR’s below…
3. Enhanced Meters and Mixing options
4. Pod Cell arranger
I think the last two are almost significant enough to warrant an upgrade, especially if you put all four of the suggestions made in this post together.
Of course these suggestions are just my opinion but usually a new upgrade is significantly different from the previous version whatever the new features wil be. π
zSampler or zSynth could be a good feature for v2.0…?
time stretching?
If I stick to my current rate of releasing, then V2 should arrive in about 8 months. Time-stretching should be implemented way before that. I doubt however that notation will be available in V2.
I’d certainly be pleased to see the addition of the ‘zGrid’ thingy in V2 π
Mart.
