It would appear Apple will require most if not all of the third party software packages that currently run on Macs to be re written. There have been mixed feeling about this.
So from a developers point of view it probably is better to wait. I suppose even existing Mac owners are now looking at a hardware update sooner or later just to run tomorrows Mac software that will be designed for intel machines.
