    Hi frits,
regarding the increasing complexity of menus and lists, would it be possible to add a “hide/unhide” command for entries?

Technophobia raised this in relation to menus for options, In my case I have put time into arranging the structure of devices, audio inputs, midi inputs, vsti’s etc and deleting currently unwanted/unused devices, channels or outputs, in order to keep the right click menus in the order i want and as concise as possible.

for examle this may involve deleting entries for 18 out of 26 available outputs for a vsti, at a later time I may want some of these back and a “hide” option would make this a much easier process

irony it would require another option in a list somewhere

Hmm, I don’t think this is something that fits in my quest for simplification of the UI. It can be a source for confusion if users experiment with the hide option without realizing exactly what it does, and I fear there would be support questions about the apparent “missing” devices that otherwise is present on the start page. The project templates (with the load setup command) was supposed to be a solution for the need to have alternative device layouts. Can’t you use the project/track templates for this purpose?

    yes i could,
but looking soley at devices, im not always sure what i will need/do when i start something so i have been trying to create a project template that will cover most things for me.

looking for a balance between deleting too many entries from the devices list and keeping the input/source menus on the arrangenent page concise.

if i create an new project i have : 4 midi ins with 2 sub groups of 16 entries 24 items under audio inputs 7 hardware definitions and about 9 vsti and 30 vst effects.
i think my set up is pretty streamlined but if i leave the list in the devices tab intact then the menus on the arrangemnt page are ….not

a “hide devices” option in the devices tab and a hide option in the right click menu would sort this for me. and inputs or instument etc
could easily be “added” in the course of a project.
