Over the weekend I was trying (again) to get a handle on Podium – I’ve (also again) had it with Cubase and Samplitude.

During an attempt to enter MIDI notes, I did a Cut/Paste operation in which I unknowingly landed an edited series of notes on top of a previous copy of those same notes. What I saw in the PR editor was a note sequence that had been extended in duration (the edit) but what I heard was the underlying previously short notes of the (unedited) sequence.

I vaguely recall seeing something about a MIDI event list editor in the new PR features thread – but I’m not really sure and the internet filters here at work remove some of the images in the threads …

I believe a list editor would have revealed my mistake almost immediately. I tried but was not able to successfully search the manual for the answer.

( A tiny aside: I was trying to enable the metronome and I found the information in the manual seemed to be wrong. I couldn’t help wondering: how much of the manual is actually correct at this point? )

If you haven’t modified the default setup, there should be an “event list” profile in the piano roll editor view menu. This event list does not have special editing features, so it is mostly usable for viewing existing events in list form.

Also remember the “select overlapping” command in the edit menu.

how much of the manual is actually correct at this point?

There are lot of minor feature additions that are not included in the guide, so that is why I’m hoping to do a complete revision of the guide this summer.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I haven’t – I currently don’t want to deviate from the defaults as long as possible, so …

I read the section on the piano roll – no mention of the “editor view menu” – where is it?

Sounds to me like an Editor for the list view is a potential feature request – it could be a life saver – or not – I’m still very reluctant to request features before learnin’ about the ones we have already 😉

Er ah, Why? What does this do?

At the top left in the editor toolbar:

It selects any note events that overlaps other note events. You can use it to check if there are any overlapping, and then use delete to get rid of them.
