    Hi 😀

First thank you to all developers of Zynewave Podium Free!!
You can be really proud about yourselves offering such a professional sequencer for free!!

Soon I will buy the license 🙂 Don’ worry! Cause you guys deserve the money!

    Okay here is my problem:

I connected my MIDI Keyboard (Miditech Midistart 3) with my computer.
Then I turned on the keyboard.
I opened Zynewave Podium Free and started a new project.
I set up my audio settings and then I came to Midi Inputs and Outputs.
I went on configure MIDI, choosed my Midi Controller as an input interface (in software my keyboard is always called “Hua Xing”)
Then I clicked on “apply” and the following error popped up:

Could not access MIDI input interface:

    Hua Xing

The interface is either not connected/powered on
or it is locked by another running application.

But my keyboard is connected and powered on!!
And I dont know which application could lock my keyboard…

My operating system: WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM 64-BIT

Please help me out and tell me how to get my keyboard to work in Zynewave Podium!

I am very thankful to everyone who tries to help me, because it is really important to be able to use my keyboard!

    Thank you sooo much!!

    Hi,

Try to disable all the other audio and MIDI devices you have enabled in the interfaces dialog, and see if you still get the error message for the MIDI input.

Some devices can indirectly block other devices, which is the case with for example the “microsoft gs wavetable synth”.

thank you sooo much for your reply!

Okay the only other device that is available to disable or enable is the “microsoft gs wavetable synth” (as a midi output interface)
But it is disabled all the time!
Or did you mean to disable it in windows?
If yes, how can I do that?

Do you think I can maybe delete this “microsoft gs wavetable synth” from my computer? and which consequences would this have? (I don’t even know for what this “microsoft gs wavetable synth” is there)…

P.S.: I have to use the ASIO Drivers or should it also work with standard windows drivers?

As long as you haven’t enabled the “microsoft gs wavetable synth” in Podium interfaces dialog, then it shouldn’t matter. Don’t bother trying to delete it from Windows. It is there so that Windows can play MIDI files.

Yes, you should use ASIO drivers. If you haven’t got one for your audio card, try the ASIO4ALL.com free driver.

If you still get the MIDI input error, check if you have any MIDI utilities/programs that are automatically started when you boot Windows. Check the system tray, or the Windows Task Manager.

Also, verify that you have the latest driver installed for your MIDI keyboard.

Microsoft gs wavetable synth is definitely not enabled!!

and I did not use asio but now I tried out ASIO but it still did not work…
And I’ve got a problem with ASIO!! I dont get any sound with ASIO and it tells me that my output devices are not connected!!!
    I dont know why…

And I could not find any program that uses midi utilities… but I don’t know what exactly every process in the windows task manager is doing..

Thx for your help and greets,
    CDLM 😀

I would really need my midi keyboard!

Hi, I’d really like to help but I need to know a little more about your setup first!

    – What type of sound card do you have? E.g., M-Audio FastTrack USB, RealTek on-board or such. If you haven’t used ASIO before, I assume you also haven’t installed any drivers for your sound card?

    – Have you been able to use your keyboard on this computer with other sequencers? If you didn’t try yet please check in this program called VST Host (http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm).

If nothing works… hmm, I’ll probably be back in Vienna around Christmas. Just thinking maybe I could take a look at it first hand. 😉

hey thanks for your request 😀

    – My soundcard is a standard built-in Realtek soundcard
And I have ASIO4ALL 2.10 (the newest version) installed on Windows 7 … but either I don’t understand how to use it or it doesnt work on Windows 7 for some reason…

    – thanks that you posted this link!! I tried out my keyboard on VSTHost and it worked without any problems and I did not even had to set up the drivers or anything..

so as it looks like, its a problem with Zynewave & not with my keyboard…
Do you know what could be the problem?

Thanks for ya help & Peace

    CDLM

    EDIT:
By the way… is it possible that I need to plug the power supply into the keyboard? (I would need to buy this…) but normally the keyboard should also work without it (worked with no problems in VSThost…)
But I think maybe that could be the problem because the error message is that the midi keyboard is not “powered on” or not connected.. for what else should the power supply be there?

Thanks for trying in VST Host! Would you please also try if ASIO4All works in VST Host on your computer? You should select it under the menu Geräte -> Wave… -> Ausgabegerät. If it works, the ASIO4All icon should appear on the task bar and you should get sound as usual.

If this works I’ll try to guide you through using it in Podium, too, as it is virtually impossible to use a sequencer on Windows without ASIO!

After we get that sorted we’ll move on to your keyboard. 😉

No, it’s fine – your keyboard draws all the power it needs from your computer’s USB port. You only have to connect a power supply if you want to use the keyboard to play, for example, a hardware synthesizer via a MIDI cable on stage (without using a computer).

Okay… I tried out ASIO4ALL in VST Host and I did not get any sound but the program must have got the input from my keyboard because the dB-level display in VST host was always raising when I played a key….

After that I tried out the normal realtek drivers and I still got my sound as before…

What do you think is the problem that ASIO does not work?

    Thanks & Peace,

Can you at least see the icon appear in the system tray? If you do, please double-click it to open the ASIO4All configuration window. It should look like this:

If there are multiple audio devices in the list, please try switching between them and see if you get sound from one.

If not then switch to advanced mode (the wrench button in the bottom right corner) and post screenshots of the ASIO4All window and the VST Host window please!

    okay :D…
There is a good message and a bad one…
I can get sound with Asio4All in VST Host… I played some notes with my midi keyboard..

but I tried the Asio4All drivers in Zynewave Podium and I did not get any sound 🙁

But if I looked close, the settings in Zynewave Podium are not exactly the same as in VST Host…. But I cant change that thing that is different!! (It is this besides the power button…. the female sign/play sign….)

I am going to post the 2 screenshots very soon so that you can understand what I mean…

    Okay there are the screenshots:

    2. ASIO4ALL in Zynewave Podium Free:

Thanks for having a look a this!!
btw.: is it possible that the problem is that I am using Zynewave Podium “FREE”?… maybe it is only possible in the non-freeware…

Thanks for the images… Sorry it’s taking so long to fix this – it seems to be a tricky problem indeed. :-k
I can guarantee that it has nothing do to with Podium Free, though!

Let’s try this simple test for now:

Please start Podium, open the MIDI/Audio Interfaces configuration window and
    – first, make sure nothing is selected on the MIDI page,
    – then switch to the audio tab, select ASIO type drivers and set the ASIO interface to none.

Now exit and restart Podium, start a new project and try to select ASIO4ALL in the configuration dialog.
Does it still display the message saying it can’t access your sound card?

Okay I have done your test…
It was just the same that I did not get any sound….
The asio configuration window is just the same as the other one of zynewave podium I posted before..

And there was never any message saying that it cant access my sound card… also not before…

… Do you use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit?
I use this OS, maybe it is the problem..

    EDIT:
hm I read somewhere that ASIO4ALL does not work if any other program on my computer uses the drivers at the same time.. This does mean that I have to close every program that is using this realtek drivers..
    I’ll try that out..
But do you know maybe some programs that could maybe use the drivers hidden?

2nd EDIT: Tried to do this… but did not help..
