Topic: MIDI muting when interrupting playback?

    If I interrupt a playback of an arrangement that has a MIDI track, I often get notes hanging on. If I restart the playback, these notes seem to get truncated immediately, before any MIDI events in my sequence occur, so Podium does appear to know how to do this. Does anyone know what Podium sends on used MIDI output channels when Stop is pressed? It may be sending All Notes Off, but if the sustain control is on, that’s not enough. All Sounds Off and All Controllers Off would work, if sent on each used channel. MIDI Reset would be simpler, and okay even though it applies to all channels. Or is there some way to do this already?

    All Notes Off. Reset All Controllers. All Sound Off.

    (I don’t know the details of your issue – sequence data, Podium MIDI configuration, MIDI routing, target instrument, instrument MIDI configuration, other potential MIDI sources… but something sounds off. But for what it’s worth, I’ve always found Podium incredibly precise, careful and respectful in its handling of MIDI data.)

    I ran Podium Free’s MIDI output through LoopMIDI into MIDI-OX, and that’s not what I’m seeing. I’m seeing explicit Note Offs generated for each note that is on, and nothing else.

    Is it possible that the pay version does this correctly, and the free version is intentionally crippled in this way?

    This is a minimal setup: one MIDI track recorded from an external keyboard/synth, then played back to the same device.

    I just noticed something. When I switched Podium’s MIDI output back to my real MIDI port, it blasted out All Notes Off and Reset Controllers to all 16 MIDI channels before the switch. (No All Sound Off, though.)

    Had another look, the afore-mentioned resetting I saw happens on playback start, not stop.
