I’m discovering Podium Free, and it’s great, but I don’t understand how to use VST midi plugins, and I must take the time to understand how you can use your midi controller to control Podium : Play, Stop, Record, Loop, etc… Is it possible ?
    Thanks

VST midi plugins are not supported yet.

If your MIDI controller supports sending stop/start MIDI real-time messages, then Podium should respond to those. Loop and record mode cannot be controlled with the real-time messages. For that, you’ll need a Mackie Control Universal compatible controller.

OK. Do you know when midi plugins will be supported ? In the plugins preferences, what is “Enable recording of VST plugin MIDI output” for ?

Do you plan to improve the midi controllers support (a tool where we can make and save our own mapping to the Podium functions : transport and mixer) ?

As I am totally new to Podium, here are my first impressions :
    – very nice, neat and customisable GUI,
    – I have searched a long time before figuring out how to add a new external VST to my project,
    – no midi vst support,
    – no midi controller support except MCU,
    – no count-in,
    – no easy way to acces VST plugin presets (it must be in the VST editor window),
    – I have seen nothing to insert bars somewhere in the arrangement,
    – it’s not possible to rearrange the order of the mixer strips directly in the mixer

I have a lot to discover left, some things are still strange for me but Podium is so lovely that I will continue trying it

I don’t know. I’ve tried giving out time estimates for new features in the past, but these estimates seldom come through. Feature suggestions and discussions on the forum often makes me change the focus of the development.

If you for example have a pattern based drum plugin that supports output of MIDI notes, you can use this option to record the patterns as a note sequence on a Podium track. You can then reuse the pattern on other tracks.

I do plan to extend MIDI controller support, but again, I can’t give you a time estimate.

You can do that with the segment tool (second tool from the left). Click and drag in the arrangement to make a time selection, then select Insert Blank from the right-click menu. To get rid of the time selection press Ctrl+R or click anywhere with the normal select tool.

Oh great, I was wondering what can be done with this segment tool..
    Thanks
