Well I finaly manged to get a sound out of this program after about 2 hours total of trying. Here is what think of it so far.

Two main things about it are:
    1. it looks great
    2. it’s extremly complicated and unintuitive

It took forever just to get a sound out of it.
Lack of tooltips makes it a lot harder to figure our anything.
SMR font is hard to read
I have no idea how to ad an efect plugin onto a track.
Seting up a project is a pain.
Tried to record some audio and it worked but it only recorded the length of the track that was visible on the screen (4 measures) even though the measure counter kept running beyond that.
No scrollbars to see more of the trac than what’s on the screen.
I liked the way audio editor pops up when you doubleclick the track.
It would be nice to be able to apply efects in the audio editor.
Track titles don’t fit in the mixer they get cut off. Happens actualy all over the place.
Metronome works only when you hit play or recording ( would be nice to be able to just turn it on or of regardles of what else you do)
    No count in for metronome.
Sound properties for audio is cool
Plugin presets don’t seem to be available.
Does this thing support surround sound? I saw some 5.1….. setups.

That’s about it so far I think I’ll wait for the next version to try it again it’s very frustrating to work with it without tooltips or help file.

    Hi Feda,

I have taken notice that a lot of people are estranged by Podiums new approach to sequencing. I have begun work on constructing video tutorials which hopefully will clarify a lot of things.

…length of the track that was visible on the screen (4 measures) even though the measure counter kept running beyond that.
No scrollbars to see more of the trac than what’s on the screen.

The bottom scrollbar always shows the zoomed time range in relation to the total length of the arrangement. The right arrow of the scrollbar will allow you to step beyond the end. The slide (hand) or zoom tool will allow you to go beyond as well.

It would be nice to be able to apply efects in the audio editor.

    Added to the plan now.

Does this thing support surround sound? I saw some 5.1….. setups.

It supports playback, recording and editing of any multi-channel format sound files. The only reason I don’t claim surround sound support, is that Podium does not yet have a built-in surround panner.

    Thanks for your input,
    Frits

I found the zoom but what if I don’t know how long my recording is going to be. How far do I have to zoom out. That approach doesn’t make much sense to me. Normaly you would have it scrool whent the focus goes out of screen and follow it. Why would you want it to cut recording off but still keep runing. That is a pretty serious problem the way I see it.

Automatic creation of audio events is on the future plan. Currently you need to create the audio event and set the size before recording. Recording MIDI will automatically create sequence events and adjust the size to the recorded material.

To make the zoom range scroll along the play cursor, select the ‘Automatic Scroll’ in the view menu.
