I am happy to go with a track, lane or path, (lane most likely) so far as Frits does not change track names to “le trou normand” 😆 😆 😆

I was thinking of the word “path” as a label for the routing properties of the current track object. I am going to use the word “lane” to describe the horizontal timeline lane of a track. The new track design has a ‘hide track lane’ option in the track context menu.

    Perfect for me !

o far as Frits does not change track names to “le trou normand”

Or he will have to send a bottle of for each customer…
Perhaps is it the way to gain more users ?

As one man on kvr said: “GUI, UI and workflow is different but very complicated things”. You can create a good sound with bad GUI, but good GUI will make your work faster and easier. The changes in GUI are great even if it looks a little “flat”. Many thanks to Frits for his great ideas.

😆 😆 I was just about to suggest additional fine wines as bundles for new customers should Frits go the “le trou normand” but you beat me to it! 🙂 😆

I like new GUI very much. But I must say, that
    – maybe tracks now looking too flat… Of course, usability going first, and in this case nothing can beat new tracks GUI. But don’t forget that almost all Podium’s GUI made in pseudo-3D, and tracks on the screenshot now look like they taken from the other program… Is it possible to make new track inspector a little more pseudo-3D’ish, without eating CPU power and loosing that great ideas that came with new GUI? I think that this will make it looks much better.

    Hi,
the old 3D looks better for me also. The flat design is like Ableton Live which I do not like very much. But I swear I will use Podium also if Frits should change the whole GUI, that everything would be flat…
    😥

I personally think the new flat look is much better than before. However to keep everyone happy maybe the current look could at least be made optional.

No idea how difficult this would be to implement, but at least it would provide a good halfway house of sorts. 😉

No-no-no, it’s not so serious problem (at least for me). No need to waste time on implementing 2d/3d look options I think. As I said before, I like new GUI on Frits’ screenshot. And I like it much better than previous GUI. But now track headers looking flat, and the rest of interface is not – that’s looking strange for me. And I asked if there’s a way to add some pseudo-3d effects to make it look more “traditional” in Podium’s way. But Frits said that he already tried to make track headers in 3d and they did not look good. Well, if Frits can’t do that – nobody can’t!

    Finally, as Jaegerteam said:

    Me too!!! 😉

Revised the design. I managed to add a slight shadow around the track headers. The selected track in the screenshot shows how tracks with hidden lanes appear.

I experimented with the routing view mentioned earlier, but found it to be overkill. The next 1.49 release will have the new track design, as well as track context menus for ‘hide track lane’ and ‘hide tracks in group’.

Considering the use of the colors, in my last project I have set one different color by track type : one color for audio file tracks, one for effects, one for level envelopes, one for automation envelopes and one for bounces (must add : MIDI, send and return tracks).

Do you think that we could for example define the colours for all the track types in the Profile properties ?
Thus a simple option available in the track – or lane – menu will allow to select the type / color plus a custom colour like now ?

Maybe sometime in the future. I’ve played enough with colors for this release.

That’s really nice Frits. I think it is a good improvement on the beta pic shown earlier in the thread – it seems more Podiumesque (Podietry? Podestrian?)

I look fwd to using it very much 🙂

    What’s next?

    Podiumish 🙂
I like slight shadows too, waiting for release!

There still remains a few issues with the hiding of track lanes, so the release is a few days away. I haven’t decided on what’s next.

Audio fades and handles, of course 😉

Oh, no, the meta event for the synchronization of automations 😆
