    Greetings All!

I realise it is extremely unusual, but I actually have nothing of any consequence to write! So, instead, I’ll just say that I hope everyone is well and enjoying Podium and having a creative summer. Myself, I should report that Podium has reached the point where it is about as familiar and important to me as is my No.1 guitar. I lately reaffirmed my choice to remain using all 32-bit host and plugins, and I’ve been delighted how smoothly everything has been running these days. Glad I made the decision to stick with Podium, because this has really been working a treat. There’s just nothing like having a great, stable DAW and just the right collection of plugins to inspire and encourage getting work done!

As I’ve said in times past, it sure has been very quiet around this board lately. It would be nice if there was considerably more going on here. No one has anything to say these days?

One new item on this forum caught my eye the other day. As we are titled ‘Participants’ when we post, I happened to notice that Frits is listed as ‘Keymaster.’ What was that movie I’m trying to think f in which the lines go something to this effect:

The Group: ‘Who has the Key?’

Respondent: ‘The Keymaster has the Key!’

Anyone remember? It was some weird old sci-fi movie from ages ago. Can’t remember what it was….

    Cheers!

I went and bought myself a Zoom R16 for field recording. Now everyone’s pissed off with me for the amount of time I spend at the beginning of a session setting up microphones and DIs.

    🙂 Could it be Matrix?

I feel the same, more should happen around here… but it doesn’t. No worries, we feel good about each others on this forum, that is the nice bit!

Anyway, I have to say I have a big problem with Podium – can not spend enough time with it! I enjoy everytime when I open it, but that happens too rarely. I love checking the board – I do check eveyday – but I did not really do much at all about the recording and mixing. My day job is demanding, my two little children as well… I simply don’t have the time I’d like to spend on music… One day I hope!

I posted on several forums and mailings about the new Zynewave site, but I think the response was rather shy and unsignificant. When the next release will happen, maybe sooner than later, I think that will animate things a little bit. I hope. So we’ll have more to discuss!

    😉

    All the best to all!

Can’t recall the quote, but there is a keymaster in The Matrix. The Keymaster/Participants roles are defined by the bbPress forum software. Perhaps some day I’ll look into customizing this, so that we get a ‘Podium Licensee’ role like we had in the old forum.

adimatis, you most certainly have my sympathies. My children are all well into adulthood now, but I raised two sons of my own — for several years as a single parent and one boy was a classic ADHD — and had a full hand in raising another four due to remarriage. No regrets, though, I just heard from one of friend who never had any, and he regrets this very much now. Many of my generation were the ones who popularised the ‘no-kids’ lifestyle in order to have less responsibilities and much more disposable income to spend on themselves. They are all basically too old to start families at this point, yet many of them are beginning to understand that the choice they made has turned out to be a huge mistake. Personally, even though it can be a struggle and is most certainly a degree of sacrifice, I consider raising children well worth it! Do hang in there, as it gets better.

Frits, I’m not very concerned about the forum monikers we are given, but I did think your ‘Keymaster’ was extremely cool. If you do intend to customise them at some future point, could you change mine to ‘Vicious Attack Rabbit’ or perhaps, as a second choice ‘Special Species of Slug’? Either might do well.

I am not having the double sign-in forum bug. I checked. I think that was from backspacing instead. This is happily all working rather well on my Linux system browser — very pleased. Like the look of everything here. Does need more activity here, though. I should take a few minutes to post latest PC, DAW and bits of plugin news perhaps. Cheers!

Thanks! Yes, great blessing these children, not always easy, but that is a “sweet burden”. My wife and I are so greatful for them and we always pray we’ll be good parents and wise mentors! My oldest son, he’s six now, will start school this autumn. He’s gonna be a guitarist (he says) as he likes guitar so much! The little one is only 8 months, but so sweet little princess! Definitely, she’s got her mom voice, nice, loud and clear! 😉

As for this website, it is all good with the new browsers. The old ones are the problem!
