This is something I’ve been thinking about a little bit, and the more I think about it, the more useful I think it would be. I also don’t know if such a feature exists on any other DAW, which may be a neat little (additional) advantage Podium can have. Okay, here we go…

I would like it if the text/comment area could use tables and these tables could link to markers in the arrangement timeline. This would allow such things as collaborators to comment on passages in the music (much like data programmers comment for the sake of other programmers) or for the addition of lyrics.

I’ve already used the comment notepad feature in Podium to display lyrics while I record, but when the songs get wordier, it becomes more difficult to fit all the words. The use of linked tables would allow auto scrolling of lyrics. (and, while I think about it, on-the-fly font adjustments like size, bold, italic, etc… would also be a great addition).

Now, if I can only get my darn interface to work perfectly…

    Hi,

You can use this little thing :
    http://acousmodules.free.fr/fichiers/utilitaires/VSText.rar
It has fake audio IO because Podium doesn’t allow to import MIDI only plugins. Just don’t put audio files on the same track or below.

You can just input some text with no formating choices, but you can have 128 pages / presets. It is easy to drag program changes on a special track to synchronize the texts.

You will have to create first a MIDI Program change parameter for it because Podium doesn’t create it by default :
    – insert the plugin on a track
    – in Param / Devices click on the little menu button and choose “New MIDI Parameter” / “MIDI Program change”
    – drag the parameter on the track to all the places you want
    – select the patch numbers with the little dial for each one and edit the corresponding text

The text will change when the play line crosses a Program box and will remain until the next one.
