Do the hosts you mention have a ‘focus track’ feature? If you select multiple events on multiple tracks, do all the tracks then get selected?

Only the last one. Thus if you click on four events which are in four different tracks, each track is selected one by one.
When the events are lasso selected no new track is selected.

if you use the MIDI input focus track option the instrument played may change. Not always desirable if you have selected an instrument track for monitoring, and want to adjust events on other tracks.

Do you think that people often make copy / paste of events while monitoring a MIDI track (while playing keyboard) ?
If it is an option, everybody will be happy 🙂

Myself, I drag’n’drop with the key modifiers.. very simple and straight fwd..

    Me too…
But it is hard to do when you have to put the new events far from the previous ones, and when the arrange window doesn’t scroll when the mouse is at the edge.
Also between arrangements, there is actually no drag’n drop possibility. 😥

Ctrl+L to get the list window, click on the arrangement to expand it, select the part, drag into the new arrangement…

    😉

    Not really…
In this way you copy the file, not the event (without speaking of a multiple selection which keeps the relative positions of the events of course !).
Or perhaps that I have not understood. Can you explain ?

Agreed, yes. Making it optional is the best way. 8)

I really would like to see more flexible scrolling in Podium. I don’t know how many times I have tried to scroll up or down in an arrangement only to be reminded that it just cannot be done that way. This kind of flexibility can be found in other hosts. It would be very useful in Podium.

    Hi Frits,

Are these ideas a consideration? The paste and copying process can be confusing and time consuming even now still.

These ideas from acousmod in particular are very good IMO…

But what do you think about an option in the preferences to automatically select the track when selecting a clip?

The way it is done in Tracktion, Vegas or Reaper seems to me extremely clever.
You click on a clip to select it (the track is automaticaly selected) and copy it :
    – if you don’t select a track or click somewhere, the clip is pasted after the first one (in Tracktion) or at the cursor position on the same track and then after the previous one (in the others)
    – if you select a track, the clip is pasted on this track at the cursor position
    – if you click somewhere in the track area the clip is pasted at this position on the corresponding track.
It is hard to make more intuitive to use, and it works the same for multiple selection.

This discussion was some time ago but the problem remains, I think they will really make things quicker and easier in Podium. Copying and pasting is a repetitive task that can become needlessly complicated in Podium at present.

Making some changes here would add to the already highly useful features found elsewhere in Podium. 8)

    Are these ideas a consideration?

Yes, but audio features are currently of higher priority for me.

That’s cool. 8) I definitely agree on a higher priority for audio features.
Thanks for at least considering the options discussed 🙂
