    Hi there,

I have just a little question. Why I can not use my Yamaha 01X with Podium??? With these funny WDM Drivers (from 01X) I get some sound (with high latency), with ASIO there is silence. I thought I am not so stupid, but I prefer to be stupid and I could use my 01X and of course this wonderful piece of software called Podium. I hope you can help me. BTW with my internal soundcard everythings works, just with my 01X not.
    Every help would be appreciated

    Hi,

If the audio channels that you use for monitoring are not the first two channels in the ASIO audio driver, then you may need to adjust the channel offset in the master output mapping.

Are there any error messages appearing? Does the arrangement appear to be playing ok (i.e are the meters working)?

If the problem persists, export a report file from the interfaces dialog, and email it to me (or post it here).

    Howdie,
thank you very much for the fast response. OK, let me see…..the meters are working, if i change to WDM I get sound, if I change to ASIO no sound anymore and a bigger report :

    Podium audio manager status report
    Log period: 14.11.2005 22:59:12 – 14.11.2005 22:59:28

    – Current clock source: Firewire
    – Supported sample rates: 44100
    – Current sample rate: 44100

The report seems ok, although a buffer size of 441 seems odd. I see that you have all 32 output channels enabled. Are channel 1/2 those that you use for monitoring?

When you run Podium, make sure there are no other applications running that use the audio device. This could be utilities or media players etc. Most ASIO drivers only allow access for one application at the time. The WDM drivers may be shared by several applications.

Try disabling the channels that you don’t use in the interfaces dialog. Open the ASIO control panel and check that everything is ok. Try increasing the buffer size, and if possible set it to a value such as 512, 1024, 2048 etc.

    Hi again

About output channels: Even if I just activate two channels there is no sound. Also much more higher buffer size don’t work and I can not set “normal values” like 512, 1024 just 484,528 or 1013, 1058….. No other application running at the same time. 01X works fine in Live, Sonar, Fruityloops and Acid. Ufff, I am tired.
Good night and anyway thank you for your help

For diagnostic purposes, you could try the generic http://www.asio4all.com driver. With this ASIO driver you can select WDM drivers, and offers very low latency values. It may not be an optimal solution, but it should at least determine if you can get ASIO drivers to work with Podium at all.

    Hello Frits,
nice to talk to you. About asio4all Drivers. I have them on my system with my onboard soundcard (5 ms Latency, wooooow, never any problem), but also with these drivers no Sound from 01X. These “joke” WDM drivers from 01X are just for system sounds or mediaplayer and don’t have any input (as far as I know). Well, well this evening I will try some things with this asio4all drivers to narrow it down. If you have any idea, plese let me know. If, or when I find out something I will inform you.

    Best wishes

Are you using the latest 01x driver version 1.5.4?

Yes and no installing problems. Also Firewire patch from Microsoft, because Service Pack 2. It is really funny. It works everywhere with my ASIO drivers and without changing something.

What about audio inputs, are they working? Try assigning one of the 01X audio input mappings to at track, activate monitoring, and see if the meters are reflecting audio input activity.

Hang on, after rereading your report I noticed this line:
    – ASIO sample types: 18, -1

The number 18 is a code indicating the bit resolution of the input channels. The -1 is for the output resolution, and that means that the ASIO driver has marked all the output channels as being inactive.

There should be active channels, because the line:
    – Output channels: 32 (11111111111111111111111111111111)
indicates that Podium has requested all 32 output channels to be activated.

Could you post a report of the ASIO4ALL driver configured for the 01X? Remember to use the update button on the report page after you have reconfigured the ASIO4ALL driver.

This is not totally unrelated, so I won’t start a new thread.
It’s about a new entry I’ve noticed in the audio manager staus report… PerformanceCounter. It measures something in Hz, but what and how?

For comparison, it shows 598420000 Hz on my dual 600 MHz.
    I’m guessing CPU clock-cycles per second…

PerformanceCounter. It measures something in Hz, but what and how?

This is a value that is provided by the Windows OS. It gives the precision of a timer feature that Podium uses in measuring CPU usage. The higher the better. Your 598420000 Hz is plenty.

I wonder if anything ever happened with this thread. I too have an 01x which is producing no sound with the MLAN ASIO drivers. It does work with the ASIO4ALL Drivers but there are some serious limitations such as I/O count. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi rickshapiro,

Since this topic, I have not received additional feedback on the 01X. If 01X driver updates during the last five years haven’t changed the behaviour in Podium, then I can only suggest using ASIO4ALL. I believe the ASIO4ALL driver allows setting up multiple stereo I/O pairs, but I have not tried this myself.
