BatmanHi, new poster here and I’m liking the bit i know about Podium so far. A lot of very well thought out and cool stuff in there. Probably the most valuable freebee out there. And I’ll buy it if i can get what i want out of it.
I have a couple of question
1st – Does podium support program change? If so where is it?
2nd – Is there something like input transformer in Cuabse i could use to transform keyswich to program change?
3nd – Is there a tempo track or something similar in Podium. I need that a lot.

1 – Yes. To get to it, open the parameter panel in the inspector (F4), click the menu button left to where it says Device and Mixer, select New MIDI Parameter -> Program Change. After you expanded the MIDI parameters folder, you can double-click the program change parameter in the list to create an automation lane for it on the currently selected track, or of course record it from your MIDI interface!
You’ll have to ask Frits why it isn’t one of the parameters that’s enabled by default.
2 – I don’t know about that one, sorry – maybe someone else knows.
3- There’s the tempo region above the tracklist (where it says “4/4, 120bpm” in new projects). You can create tempo events there, which you can set to change time signature and/or tempo. Currently, these only allow for linear changes.

When you say linear change that means we cant create curves and stuff like that? I had a look in Wiki for info but didn’t really find it.

BatmanOK i guess that was a stupid question. š But drawing curves is something i really like. But at least Podium as it at the right place at the top of the arrangement window. 8)
Anyway, now I’m trying to understand how i can insert tempo change in there but I’m not sure i get it. If you guys have a video demonstrating that let me know.

thcilnnahojNah, it’s not a stupid question at all. Also, I didn’t word it correctly before… There are no gradual tempo changes at the moment, though that certainly qualifies a wish for improvement.
I’ll try to explain making changes to tempo, just in case someone reading still has trouble.
To add a tempo event, either double-click inside the tempo region (where there’s already an event at the start, saying “4/4, 120bpm”), or single-click with the pencil tool.
If snap is activated, the tempo event will be created at the nearest point it can snap to (e.g., the start of the bar). Otherwise it’s created right where the mouse cursor is.
You can right-click on the tempo region to bring up a menu where you can also choose to create a tempo event at the edit cursor position.

Without knowing how the Cubase input transformer works, I think I will answer no to that question. There is no method for converting incoming MIDI messages into another type of MIDI message.

I’ve learner a little about Podium and i can tell you’re very cleaver, well organized soft designer. I feel if i learn more it’s gonna heart to go back to Cubase. Most things i know about podium i would like to see in Cubase 5 now. Not to bash Steinberg as it is great software and I’m grateful to have it but Podium is so snappy and seems to have improved things that you see in other host as in smarter disign. Unfortunately, it looks like i will have to go back to Cubase because I’m sort of dependent on it for now. But i plan on buying Podium as a second solution. And to support development. Plus i want to play with this summer if i have the time.
