I have just contacted Frits by email and he has agreed that I make the following announcement.

Long standing Podium user, Robert Rif, a film director at Slow Monkey Production, Stockholm, known in this forum as “Slomo”, tragically died of cancer earlier this month.

I know he was a long standing and active member of this forum and a big advocate of the Podium DAW. I am sure that everyone in this forum will agree that his passing is a very great loss. His expertise, which he always shared generously, will be sorely missed in this forum and other online forums where he was active such as the EditShare Lightworks NLE forum where I first learned of his death a few days ago.

Although I never met him, I knew him over a period of 3 years mainly through the Lightworks NLE forum where he always generously shared his astoundingly comprehensive grasp of the technicalities of the software. We exchanged private emails about various aspects of Lightworks and Podium where his patient help was always evident. In fact, he first drew my attention to the existence of Podium in the audio section of the Lightworks forum.

I also collaborated with him on an article about Podium for EditShare’s RedShark News moving images technology website. Several Lightworks users have expressed their sorrow at his passing in the Lightworks forum. He will be sorely missed.

    Rest in Peace Robert.

Robert’s family and friends have set up a Facebook page entitled “in Loving Memory of Robert Rif”. If you search for this, you will find it easily enough.

I am so very sorry to read such news – it is always a great loss when a friend is passing away, even if an ”internet friend”! RIP Slomo
Condolences to the family and friends!

Ah that’s some terrible news …a long-time supporter of Podium and always helpful here on the forums.

    R.I.P. Slomo.

Thanks for taking the time to post this tribute.

Sad to hear about Slomo’s passing but thank you for informing us, shaun. I never met him either, but he used to be a regular on various forums and around here. I remember well the article and its excellent title in RedShark News that you mentioned.
