Topic: Routing an arpeggiator

I’ve installed the free SimpArp arpeggiator VST and read the Readme file, in which it states:

This is a MIDI instrument. It does not put out sound! You need to put a plugin behind SimpArp on the MIDI-track or send the MIDI output of the track to another track with a plugin instrument or to an external synthesizer.

    Suggested routing:
MIDI KEYBOARD >>>> SimpArp >>>> SYNTHESIZER (PLUGIN) >>>> AUDIO OUT
    or
MIDI TRACK >>>> SimpArp >>>> SYNTHESIZER (PLUGIN) >>>> AUDIO OUT
    or
MIDI KEYBOARD >>>> MIDI TRACK >>>> SimpArp >>>> MIDI TRACK >>>> SYNTHESIZER (PLUGIN) >>>> AUDIO OUT

Although I understand the concept of routing one VST into another, can anyone tell me how I go about doing this on Podium Free? I’ve tried turning a track into a Group track with a Child track, I’ve put the instrument VST (e.g. mda Piano) as parent and SimpArp as the child (and vice versa!) and get a red error message saying

This device produces audio but the device on the parent track does not process audio

I suspect I’m doing something fundamentally wrong here, so any help would be very gratefully received!

Well, currently Podium does not support MIDI plugins.
And since arpeggiators, chorders, pattern sequencers/randomizers etc. are MIDI effects, you cannot use them natively in Podium. But there’s a workaround kinda-sorta.

Here you can find some info on how to actually use midi effects in podium via third party VST hosts.
