Someone on the Reaper forums mentioned Podium as a good example of a daw gui so here I am.
Downloaded and isntalled the free v ersion earlier and boy what a slow load! Even after it had registered my plugins and I had saved a project with nothing in it, there seems to be a huge pause before I can actually use the program.
My test rig is a Celeron M 1.6 with a gig of ram running win XP 32, so I owul hope it is not the computer spec that is causing hassles. Oh and I am using ASIO4ALL.

Frustrating as the little bit of workflow I have seen so far, I have liked.

    Hi and welcome ivansc,

when does this pause occur? While loading Podium or while loading the project/arrangement? Can you quantify that pause?
If you have a project with some heavy VSTi, loading that could take a while (esp. with things like Kontakt).
Podium does not need much horsepower and starts up almost instantly on my system (<1sec, but I have to admit that the machine is an i5 with 8GB).
Your system should be able to start Podium within a few seconds too. I’ve used Podium to record some 10-20 track live stuff on a similar acer notebook. Maybe there is a lot of swapping going on on your system? Are there other heavy tasks running?
There was a problem a few versions ago which prevented fast shutdown of Podium. Security tools like virus scanners caused a massive delay while writing the configuration file. This has been fixed a few versions ago and that fix should already be in Podium free too.

Well, you have to realize your computer is a tad slow… 😉 Still, it should be no problem as users have reported running Podium perfectly fine on netbooks.

Like ronin said, it’d sure help if you could say when exactly the stalling occurs!

This was fixed in 2.38, so it will appear in the next Podium Free release.
