I’m having a problem with the ‘scan & import all plugins’ option.
Whenever I try to use it, it freezes after a short time and I have to close Podium with the task manager. It always freezes after importing the 2nd plugin, but it’s not always the same one. As it happens it’s not a feature I want to use for any practical purposes as I’ve already set up Podium the way I want; I was just testing it out to see if it worked – but it doesn’t – for me anyway.

    Hi Martin,

What Windows version are you running, and how much RAM do you have?

What is your VST root folder set to?

Are there any other non-vstplugins dll files in your VST folders?

It always freezes after importing the 2nd plugin, but it’s not always the same one

Do I understand this correctly; Podium always imports the 2 first plugins successfully, but one of the following plugins will fail? What are your 3 first plugins?

Could you try to set the VST root folder to a folder with alternative plugins, and see if the scan process can complete with this?

    WinXP Home, 512mb ram.

What is your VST root folder set to?

It’s on a separate HD at E:vst plugins

    No.

I’ve just tried it again and watched it closely. The first plugin it loaded OK; VazPlus. Then while loading the second one; DR008, it froze – though it said ‘2 plugins loaded’.

Could you try to set the VST root folder to a folder with alternative plugins, and see if the scan process can complete with this?

I’ll try that and get back to you.

OK, after a bit of trial and error I moved the DR008.dll out of my plugins folder and did a rescan and it seemed to work normally. However after a while all my ram got eaten up…and it froze again – not Podiums fault there. 🙂
I did a scan of a sub-folder of the vst plugins directory and that worked fine.
Regarding the DR008.dll, I can import it using the ‘import plugin’ selection so I don’t know why it won’t work using the ‘import all’ option.

The scan will load plugins and immediately unload them. Maybe DR008 doesn’t like to be discarded so quickly 🙂

Actually, ignore that remark. This is what happens when you import the plugin manually as well. I’ll install my old DR008 1.1 demo and check it out.

So, in theory I should be able to have all my plugins loaded without all my ram being used up ❓

Yes. So it sounds strange that you should run out of RAM during import. I’ll check my code to see if I’m releasing the plugins properly.

That was a no go. I’ve had the demo installed a long time ago, so the new installation just pops up with a dialog saying it has expired. I’m afraid I won’t be able to check the DR008 scanning problem for now.
