When working with audio files containing beats on a linear timeline, I like to trim the loop range, then slice the clip. That way I have a measured clip to repeat by simply pressing Insert.

My problem arises in translating the loop range to a selection range.

Could we have a ‘Set Segment around Loop’ function to compliment the existing ‘Set Loop around Selection’ (Alt+L) command.

Using this function would allow the edit cursor to be placed at the beginning and end of a segment for clip splits (Ctrl+T).

Podium is the host with the most! 😀

Just in case you didn’t know, you can move the edit cursor to the loop start/end points, too.
Press Shift+W or PgUp on the numpad to move the cursor forward, and Shift+Q or Home on the numpad to move it backward. This will snap to either the loop start/end, punch start/end, segment selection start/end, or marker events – whichever comes next on the timeline.

Edit: Maybe I misunderstood what you’re trying to do, but I don’t think you can split events at all when using the segment tool?
