I have to post this here as I cannot post on the 1.65 topic.

You said this in response to francois problems…

Saving a sound will lock the data for the duration of the save, so if the sound file is big the engine goes silent after a second or so while the ‘saving sound’ progress dialog is being displayed. I just tried this with a simple arrangement and a single 140 MB sound file. The engine goes silent during the save and then plays again after the save. I could not provoke a crash. To reduce the risk of this sort of crash, Podium could stop playback before saving any sounds, but I’d rather avoid having to put in that restriction. Let me know if it happens again.

Please do not change Podiums current behaviour in this area. I agree that putting a new restriction that would require Podium to stop playback is probably not a good idea. Podium is one of very few software hosts that provides many operations in realtime.

If Francois still has problems and this is the only solution for them then by all means add the restriction to solve his problem, but please make such behaviour optional in Podium. I would not want to have to sacrifice playback for a fix of this nature but welcome it if such a change is optional. A global option of some sort.

Of course Francois may already have a solution with 1.66. Lets see what he has to say. 😉
